Behold! The Ossterreich!

Post by HemlockGrey »

Actually, I have no fucking clue was the Ossterreich is. I'm hoping it's Austria.

As you can clearly see, Austria is becoming like the Blob, only white, and German.

Most of the German territories in the empire(including the Czechs in Bohemia) were peacefully incorporated, although a few foolish rebellions had to be brutally quashed. There were one or two provinces I took by force, though.

Dalmatia was taken from Venice in the second of two wars I fought against them. In the first, I took Dalmatia, freed Ragusa(which was then taken by the Aquitane, which was then annexed by Spain), and the Duchy of Athens rebelled and broke away, carrying Hellas, Morea, and Ionia with them. Hungary took Croatia. I managed to extract a hefty indemnity.

In the second war, I took Dalmatia and a nice bit of gold.

But the Low Countries...with the exception of Friesen, which rebelled against their French masters and joined my empire willingly, and Hanuit, which was peacefully annexed the Low Countries were bought and paid for in German and Dutch blood, as the result of wars against France, Kleves, and Gelre. Never have so many died for...er, right. And the Dutch Revolts haven't even started up yet.

No chance of inheriting Hungary, though. They do, however, make quite a nice buffer state against Poland-Lithuania and the myriad squabbling Balkanian/Anatolian powers. Yes, Venice *is* in possession of Macedonia and Albania.

I've nearly driven the Protestants out of my kingdom; only parts of the former kingdom of Bohemia remain to them. The Reformed, however, are infesting part of the west and most of the Low Countries.

Their time will come.

I did a Bavarian Empire similar to that but I quit that game after it was too easy to conquer stuff. My objective was to unite all German territories before conquering any other piece of land. In the beginning it was interesting duking it out with the numerically superior Austrians and then later with the Swiss Empire and the Great Bohemian-Hungarian alliance (before Poland squashed it). It seems your Hungary got lucky, in mine they ballooned but then were smashed by some extremely good Ottoman leaders.

Come to think of it, I should try that out again, it was a blast...

Yes...the beautiful white blob hasn't grown much since. I've converted all of the Protestants in my realm and a few of the Reformed provinces. Currently in the middle of the Dutch Revolts. I hate the fucking Dutch.

At least you have a clean land route to the provinces. Imagine if you didn't :) It's too bad you won't be getting Hungary, I suppose the Habsburg imperial machinations should be focussed on uniting all German and potentially Italian lands.

Well, it's 1694, and I've diploannexed Hungary, although it was reduced to five provinces, one of which I ceded to Wallachia. Siebenburgen is up and kicking, and there's an Alliance of Principalities ruling the Balkans: Bulgaria, Wallachia, Moldavia, and Serbia. The Duchy of Athens contains Hellas, Ionia, Morea, and Smyrna, and Rome has managed to reconquer Macedonia.

Trebizond was annexed by, of all things, Portugal. The Ottomans rule most of Asia Minor, but not much else, and Persia is fucking *huge*, and fighting a series of enormous wars against the Mogul Empire.

I've taken Munster, Cologne took Kleves, and Sweden took Odenburg. Poland took Brandenburg, Magdeburg, Bremen, and Danzig, but I won them all plus Poznon, Wiel-whatever, and Moldava(which I set free as Moldavia).

The Austrian New World Empire is actually very small; I have Wabana, Nova Scotia, Tallahassee, Seminole, and Niagra; Acadia defected to me, but it's Anglosaxon and Protestant.

I'm not sure where to go next. I'll probably try to push Denmark out of Germany. I don't want to go east, because I run into a lot of worthless Polish/Lithuanian provinces. I'm not strong enough in the New World to make a bid for a colonial empire, and France is fucking scary, fielding the largest armies in the world and basically looking damn nasty.

Maybe Italy...

Well, I did push Denmark out of Germany, and then turned around and wormed my way into their alliance with England.

Carlos has died and named Phillip of Anjou as his her, thus vassalizing France to Spain.

This is silly. Everyone know Spain belongs to the Habsburgs. Spain is ours! We must have it, and if we must bath in French blood, then so be it!

So I've got a few year to throw together an army capable of A) putting down rebellions in the recently annexed portions of North Germany and Hungary, B) defending the borders against the Italians, C) invading France, and D) invading Spain. I also have to put together a colonial force capable of raiding France and Spain's New World possessions. I lead them both by about 6 levels of landtech but my navy is pathetic.
