1. I was referring only to the statistics that say that the Federation can defeat the Empire. I believe that every one of those pieces of "evidence" have been refuted fairly easily. Note that to equal even the lowest-end SW calculations, ST high-ends would need to rise by at least three orders of magnitude in terms of firepower.TheDarkling wrote:You stated ever single one had been refuted - thats an unsubstantiated claim, this clacl im looking at cant be ignored because it has lots of nice measurements etc - and they are even in the right units and so forth.
My opinion is based upon the fact you seem to becoming more and more militant of late.
I also say that the high calcs are argued against in this way based upon looking at the arguemtns against the calcs which have been that over and over again (some where valid but alot were just that).
In short people in glass house's.....
2. I was not aware that I have become more militant, of late, but I do not doubt that it is true. Without DarkStar around I feel my creative energies blossoming ( ).
3. I have no doubt that some high-end calculations are argued against in such a manner, and in some cases this can be a reasonable technique. However, in other cases that is simply not reasonable.
4. What is the new set of observations you are looking at? I'd be happy to take a look at them with you. What episode are they based on?

It would appear as though the intellectual giants have come forth to spew forth wisdom to we misinformed few (dripping sarcasm included). Alas, are these the best that the Trekkies can offer? Surely there is at least one Trekkie with a functioning brain cell who can step forth and reign in their ill-advised underlings...

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
damm, it seems we are in a time loop, the same old star drek arguments kept coming up from trekkie newbies, it's really getting dulldude, if your going to troll, do it inventively. your going to kill me of boredom.

MOO: Im just looking at torp and power calcs in SB and ASVS archives.
I have seen alot more high firepower estimates than low but maybe pro wars just cant be bothered to post low ones.
Im looking at some power calcs at the moment but I have to think that they seem to large - the thing is however they fit in with the other power calcs and I havent seen any low power examples apart from the Riker Terrawatt quote whihc must refer to comms based upon every other calc/quote that people have put forward.
Basically im bored, I guess ill watch that new enterprise episode in an hour or so - but I dont want to

Oh, fer cryin' out loud, "G-O-D" if you're going to be an agitator, at least do it well.
Answer me this--
How come whenever Trek captains come up with some new way to save the Universe and All Life as we Know It, they forget about it next episode? Star Wars has CONTINUITY, Trek just has Alzheimer's.
And in Star Wars, the ultimate weapon is a toss-up between the Death Star or the Force. In Star Trek, it's Wesley Crusher. Blech.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

I just saw the latest enterprise while it has the probably the best Vulcan since Sarek (he doesnt do a great impression of a rock) we also have Velcro being invented by T'Pols grandmother - what the hell is it with B&B do they want to make every human invention be from aliens or the future?? Tune in Next week to find out Shakespear really was a Klingon

the 200 GT figure comes from the AOTC ICS and is an OFFICIOAL book .Which means that unless the figure is disputed by what we see in the films then it is valid for debating purposes BTW on a SD those 200gts woiulkd be there version of a 5 inch cannon Imagine what there version of a 16 or 18 incher would do

Actually they will claim that the 90mt burts of a photon Torpedo will inflct 90,000,000 isotons worth of damage to everything within a certain area of space convienantly forgetting that an Isoton=one ton of explosive power, and that all energy released in an explosion is released omnidirectionally and reduces in magnatide over the area of the explosion.

About Shakespear being a Klingon yes (at least I hope) but about T'Pols Grandmother (2nd Foremother in Vulcan) inventing Velcro im afraid not.
She took some off her ship (which had crashed) and sold it to get some money to send a Kid to University (Im not making this up). the kid was the son of the woman who owned the bar she had been working in.
