At one of those movie awards, he made like a 15 minute speech about how the war in Iraq was unjust and shit. This would be no big deal, if the people who do said awards hadn't stated that they didn't want anyone to make comments on the war in their speeches.

The government should send this guy to Iraq and have him tell the Iraqi's that he didn't think we should've liberated them. they could also film what happens and sale copies of it on Ebay.

Most Iraqi's would agree with him. Perhaps those staged celebrations are still fresh in your mind?

We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Oh yes, because we know they just loooooooooooooved being ruled by a paranoid nutjob who would have people offed for no reason at all. Please, prove to me and all the others that supported the war that the Iraqi's would prefer So-damn-insane and his twisted lil hellions over the new democratic government that we've helped create.

I'm sure they enjoy seeing their children and friends killed by American forces, all for the sake of a power grab.

I think it's your job to explain away the staged celebrations (if the Iraqis love us so much, why can't we let them throw their own parties?) and their opinions on their so-called "liberation" which was based on lies about WMDs.

Exactly what power grab? Why would we want a pissant country like Iraq? If we wanted oil so bad, then why not go after Saudi Arabia or Iran or a country with a lot of a oil fields. Also, if we're trying to conquer Iraq and make it our own, then please explain the multi national peace keeping force that's being assembled.

No, I think it's your job to provide proof that the celebrations were staged. I agree that the WMD crap was just that, crap. But alot of Americans would've gone with the war just to liberate Iraq. That's the way we are, we like giving people the spicey taste of freedom. (which goes great with a fine red wine)

I supported the because of the whole idea of liberating a nation that's been oppressed for decades. But, I know it sounds hypocritical, but while I supported the war, I think we could've held off for atleast a year and instead gone after North Korea.

Ah, don't deny it. Oil was one of the many reasons why Bush administration went after Saddam's Iraq. The rebuilding of the country also offers business opportunities for American companies.

Multi-national peacekeeping force? Well, compared to former peacekeeping operations like the Balkans it's anything but multi-national, and unless I'm badly mistaken it consists of soldiers from about dozen nations. Some of them, like Estonia, only contribute few hundred troops at most. The reason why US would now prefer other nations to take a bigger role in occupation is to reduce its own costs.

I personally supported the Iraqi War when it began and purely for the same reason you mentioned - liberation of Iraqi people - but now I think that they were not ready for their "liberation"....

Did I somehow piss you off to a point where you're willing to have a fellow mod swarmed by anti war and anti Bush people? :P

Anyways, France, Germany and I believe Russia have all said that they want to create a peace keeping force to help the US and Britain in Iraq. Hell, India's pledge 15,000 soldiers if the PK force is formed.

You know, I wouldn't put it past Bush to have had oil on his mind when he decided we should go to war. I used to like Bush, he had to be better than the robot...I mean Gore. But now, I hope he loses in '04. He's lied to the very people who elected him and doesn't deserve hold the same office that guys like FDR once held.

But *only* under the condition that the UN will have a much greater say in the post-war Iraq. If that isn't agreed upon, those countries will be less than thrilled about sending troops to Iraq.

Some months ago, India refused to send those samesuch 15k soldiers to Iraq because there was no UN backing. Now that the USA start to feel the money drain, they want others to share the costs and have someone else Iraqis can shoot at.

I was just in the news, that the poles were thinking about re-deploying back home, and the Japanese were withdrawing their offer to send troops...

Between this and DDHX (which is really a 20 kton light carrier), it looks like the Japanese are getting ready to amend their constitution to remove the no-war provision.
