A really fucking disturbing encounter happened today....

I don't know, some people are just fucked up. I was coming out of a BestBuy store when some old fart came up to me and asked "Have you seen my car? I can't find my car!" I asked him what kind of car he drove, he didn't know, the senile nutcase didn't even know what colour his car was, and he thought I could help him find it in a parking lot of over a thousand cars! How the fuck can you NOT know what your own car looks like??!

The scarier thing is that senile old bastard is on the road.

I was at my local Borders looking over some books, when this wierd bald headed man tried to start a conversation with me. At this point, I started to put my guard up. At first he asked questions like, " Do you like reading?" "How often do you read?" " What college do you go to?" I cracked my knuckles and formed a fist now. Then he finally asked, " Would you like to get together with me some time?" I gave a firm and threatening NO. Then he said " I would really like to get together with you." At that point I whispered out loud (as to not disturb or scare some of the kids that were around but to make sure he heard it) " If you try anything with me or anyone else, I'll kill you." At that, he just high tailed it out of there.

Disturbing indeed. Very disturbing.

IMHO, threatening him probably was a bit much, but if it worked, it worked. There's no disputing that.

Personally, I would have laughed it off (in his face, of course) and said, "Sorry, I'm straight, and there is no way you (strongly emphasize the you) could possibly turn me." Then I would have smiled, and walked away. Funny, and insulting, no? If he persisted, then I would have threatened him.

Would you have threatened to kill a woman who kept on trying to hook up with you like that? Sheesh.. I don't threaten men like that who make comments (especially in a way that could get you in jail--death threats are pretty serious you know); it just has to be accepted and brushed off. Some people are simply idiots.

Although I admit, it is a pretty serious threat I made, but I'm not going to take the risk with a possible could be sexual predator. I was having a bad week too which may have constituted to my serious threat, but I will admit that even if that were not the case, I would still have threatened him with bodily harm. Frankly I'm glad I scared him off like that because I don't know whether he gets his kicks from college students, or from kids alike, and there were plenty of kids inside the place. Even if the chances are one in a million that he also preyed on kids, I don't want to turn on the news to see that a child was kidnapped from a Borders by a sexual predator, described as having no hair.

Did I do the right thing? Not nessasarily. Like others have said, I could of cut out the "I'm going to kill you part". Or that I would not have done the same if it were a woman. Truthfully, yes I would not have responded that way to a women because I don't typically see women as a threat. A man who is twice your age, bigger than you, and was walking back and forth checking you out while hitting on you, to me was a threat. As for the threat itself, well, whats done is done. If the same thing happened to me again, depending the the situation, there is a good chance that I would respond in similar fashion.

If you are approached by someone who acts like a sexual predator, or flashers, whatever, don't just laugth or send him away. If you're certain of your strength, do something. Don't let him go away until the police arrives, or call the police instantly and present a report. It's possible they have him on file, and this way you may be saving the life of someone who cannot defend himself as well as you can, someone like your sister.
