The article does not say that the cell phone solely caused the accident. The accident may have still occured without the cell phone due to speeding and bad road design, as indicated by the previous wrecks on that stretch.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Plus he must have known how the road was,he still drove his car fast in a badly made road with a freaking phone in his hand.

I'm not saying that his talking on the phone wasn't stupid, I'm just pointing out that the accident might have occured even if he wasn't talking on the cell.
