Weird Problem w/ DVD Player

Post by HemlockGrey »

This is odd...no matter what DVD I put in the player, when I watch it, it seems to move at a higher framerate than normal, and the sound is blurred and gravelly...

Stop drinking.

Shouldn't drinking slow down the framerate?

Sounds like you're trying to play NTSC discs in a PAL player maybe?

Firmware got fucked up? Laser out of whack?

Considering his location, I think it'd be the other way around...

More specifically, Region 2 in a Region 1 player.

He lives in Philly. It's more likely that he has a bunch of NTSC discs since those are the only ones sold in stores here, and somehow either picked up a DVD player with the wrong region or somehow changed the region of his DVD player.

Hemlock, is your DVD player a DVD-ROM or a standalone?

Standalone, and the problem only just started. I've had the player since February, and all the discs were working fine two days ago.

What brand is it? Have you tried using a cleaning disc? Is it still under warranty?

Have you tried pulling the plug, letting it sit for a couple of hours, plugging it back in and see if it still happens?
