One more nail in the "ICS isn't canon" coffin

Post by Connor MacLeod »

I know this has been done to death, but I thought this was interesting:

Ryan Church wrote: As designers we look at all kinds of stuff for inspiration and we have a crack research staff to help us with that. The Star Wars books serve as a starting point and guide for certain types of questions that arise in respect to certain cultures or technologies that have already been established in the movies. The Star Wars Chronicles book is our bible, the Incredible Cross-Section books provide a great starting point when we're adding to existing locations. We usually don't refer to the Expanded Universe materials specifically unless our research team finds something that directly corresponds to our assignment.
I think it also gives us an interesting insight into how the Expanded Universe is applied as well.

No, DickShit will just use this as proof that the ICS books are EU material, given the fact that Church refers to them as such (ignoring the previous quote from Insider canonizing the books, of course).

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

EDIT: Original message typed in wrong forum window.

This is further substantiated by the original article: The ICS are canon because they are used as references in making the movies. Further, since one of the reasons Saxton was chosen was his policey of whole EU inclusion as much as possible, it points out an even more clear attempt at strengthening ties between the movies and novels

That depends entirely on your reading of it. To me he is making a distinction: They reference the ICS, but typically don't reference the EU, not that the ICSs are EU and an exception to the rule.
