Arnie the Misogynist

Post by Joe »

Let the character assasination begin! Welcome to politics, Arnie!

It amazes me at the lengths people are willing to go to defame Arnie. They're using scenes he shot in fictional movies as proof of his disdain for women.

Well, they don't have his voting record, or any other of the normal targets for mudslinging... ;)

Pretty soon you'll see some article stating that Arnold is a medal cyborg under human flesh sent back from the future to aid the development of a nuclear holocaust.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

lmfao..
In the movie "Total Recall," Schwarzenegger puts a bullet through the head
of his on-screen wife, who is trying to kill him as well, and says without
remorse: "Consider that a divorce."

The line was outrageous enough to be included in a 1996 documentary
about domestic violence, "No Safe Place." It was one of many controversial
comments the macho, cigar-chomping actor has made, both on screen and
off, about women.
Ofcourse! He hates women cause he shot one that was trying to kill him! I
CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED IT BEFORE!!!

Hey, if Arnold's fictional movies accurately reflect his skills and his personality, I'd be a lot more worried about not voting for him.

Hell, if you took his movies has his stance on things and how he is....

He's a hero who is willing to bring down the establishment to better people, willing to give his life in the line of duty, protective and good with children, intelligent, resourceful, and dangerous.

He also doesn't like terroristist and bad guys :)

Wooohooo!

Let's forget his real family life, ignore his happy marriage, and totally discard his stated veiws and bash him for his movie roles. If he was really the sort of misogynist asshole they claim he was then he'd never have stayed married for 16 years. Ridiculous. :( Is this what passes for political debate these days?

"These days"? Where have you been? Since when has politics ever been about a candidate's political views and ability? I can't remember when it was about anything other than mud-slinging.

Mud-slinging in American politics went 'mainsteam' during the Adams administration, IIRC.

Mudslinging has been "mainstream" in elections since their have been free elections (and I extend that back to ancient Greece). I personally detest it, since it has little to do with who is the better man, but I will indulge in a smug little smirk at the people who are complaining that people are mudslinging Arnie, but if he'd have been a democrat, they wouldn't be mad but rather indifferently shrug and say "That's politics."

Still better then the competition and it removes any long term budget issues.

yeah... sometime back in the early 1800's. It became an artform back then. You think that they're bad today? There were no rules against Libel or Slander back then. (of course, there were also Duels of Honor...)

Actually, the article appears to be fairly evenhanded and cites Schwarzenegger's refusal to join a male-only social club and his support for issues high up on the female agenda.

Criticisms of Schwarzenegger based on his movies won't lose the election for him —that's more likely to happen at the hands of the Bill Simon faction and right wing absolutists who consider Arnie to be a RINO.

As for how the election may turn out, with the way Gray Davis seems to be melting down and the possible GOP split, I'd lay even money at this point on Cruz Bustamante winding up in the governor's chair come November.

I'm afraid that's the way it will turn out. The last thing we need is another pompous ass in power, and the people who dislike Bustamante the most are probably going to be the most responsible for putting him in power.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if that's not the case.

I read the article. Its mostly interpreting movies he didn't write and pairing it along with taking jokes he made out of context.
