Any city gets what it admires, will pay for, and, ultimately, deserves…We want and deserve tin-can architecture in a tinhorn culture. On behalf of Red, concession accepted. You didn't even attempt to counter his points on the economy.jezrianna wrote:Gee, I thought there was going to be a world-wide economic catastrophy that would make me suffer?
Oh dear, a whole 30000 infantry. The ROK's has 560000 active troops, they have enough on the ground as it is - nevermind their huge reserves which would be called up in event of war. The US doesn't need troops on the ground - but we can bring our considerable airpower to bear with the USN and USAF.I suppose you'd have us pull our troops out of SK (saving you and I a lot of money), and leave them to their fate if the North attacked?
Except that you yourself said what poor troops the North Koreans were. Are you saying the ROK's 560000 troops cannot win without a mere 30000 infantry? And what about the hit to your precious 'global economy' if Kim Jong Il took over SK? I'll tell you what.
And this is nothing less than an ad hominem attack. I don't see you rushing to join the US military and getting a billet in the ROK. Newsflash: nobody likes the plight of the DPRK's peasants, but nobody wants a second Korean War and the devestation it would inflict, either. You, sir, are a coward, nothing less. Content to leave others as slaves to spare you any inconvience.
Furthermore, how many of those peasants are going to die if war breaks out? Do you think the DPRK's military is going to keep giving them whatever food they have in storage? Hell no, that's going to the front lines - leaving the peasants to starve. By the time the DPRK's military is finished with there will be a huge refugee exodus to China - and feeding that horde might well be impossible in time.

30,000 infantry would indicate a much larger force then we've actually got there, most of those 37,000 man force is in support roles. In terms of actual combat forces we've got two infantry brigades, six artillery battalions, two tank battalions along two F-16 squadrons in South Korea. Meanwhile a single year, 1998 as I recall, the ROK once disbanded three infantry divisions and one tank and one artillery brigade. The threat of a ground invasion from the North is minimal and any attack would be defeated short of the capital and before the real weight of American military power could arrive.phongn wrote: Oh dear, a whole 30000 infantry. attention moron: The South Korean Army is nearly as large as that of the US and was considered sufficently powerful that it could disbaned an entire corps only a few years ago.jezrianna wrote: Gee, I thought there was going to be a world-wide economic catastrophy that would make me suffer? So tell me, what unit are you currently serving in and where are you stationed? Wait, your not in the military at all are you? You are in fact a lying idiot who wishes to send tens of thousands to their deaths. The slaves you care so much for will suffer horribly in any such war, do you really thing UN food aid will be getting in with nuclear weapons being thrown around?
