Well, I can't say I'm happy about this, nor can I say I'm sad. This is sort of a poetic justice, an nasty ending to a nasty ordeal.

I also can't say I'm suprised by this. A large number of prisoners were the victems of childhood abuses.

Quite frankly, I would have liked to see his jail time stretched out.

Child Molesters/Rapists are one of the reasons I'd like to see corporeal punishment back in the prison system.

i.e every 6 hours, 20 lashes with a singapore cane....

However....

he's dead, and good riddance. I hope he enjoy's his new accomidations. He's in the ground, and if you believe in the afterlife (I believe in God, not the church), he's probably in hell now, getting poked in ways he used to fantasise about doing.

if you think about it, his killer really had nothing to lose. he was already serving a life term. it's not like they can keep him in any longer. Not only that, but he may have won himself some respect in the eyes of the other inmates. he did kill a child molester with his bare hands.

I want to say murder is bad. But in this case I really can't. Geoghan deserved it as much as any one possibly could. It would been nice if he had rotted in prison longer but it's done and over with.

I can't help but disagree with some sentiments on this issue.

On one hand, I'm not going to mourn the death of a child molester but at the same time I can be sad that justice for his victims was not done. Letting Goughan rot in prison for the rest of his days, being forced to think about what he did that got him there is a far better punishment than the eternal nothingness to which he has been committed.

Priest pedophilia is a crime of opportunity. Because of the Catholic church's sexual segregationist policies, priests simply aren't around little girls very often, while they are routinely around young boys for extended periods of time (particularly in boarding schools etc., where they actually live with them).

Isn't it actually having a noticeable negative effect, parents not wanting to send them to a boarding school, church attendance dropping, I hope they get the message.
