The Boondock Saints vs Bad Boys II
After they blow Yakavetta away, Connor, Murphy, and Ill Duce escape into the streets of Boston. The police, desperate to catch the vigilantes, call up the west coast.
Marcus Burnett(Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey(Will Smith) are brought over to Boston. Their mission is simple: Bring in the vigilantes, dead or alive.
For their part, the Saints have seen Bad Boys II and, quite apart from the shittiness of the flick, they realize that these two detectives are not particularly wholesome men. Therefor, they decide that Burnett and Lowrey must be killed.
When all is said and done, who walks out of the city?

Yeah, I tend to agree. And of course, we get to see William Dafoe narrate the whole thing.

No, they learned languages when they were kids. I think they said their mom made them learn them, but I don't remember. But what I do remember is that that's not one of their divine gifts.neoolong wrote:Is the whole being able to speak in every language supposed to be some diving gift?Stormbringer wrote:The Saints all the way. How do you beat divine protection after all?
In fact, the movie never explicitly shows them to have divine protection. The only remotely mystical thing that happens (aside from a lot of providential luck) is that they both woke up at the same time and said the same stuff in the jail cell.
My take is that they're just loonies that happen to use their lunacy for the forces of awesome.
EDIT: Speaking of their mom, did you guys watch the deleted scene with her in it? That was fucking hilarious.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

The extended scene with the militant lesbian is hilarious, as well.
"How many lesbians does it take to screw in a light bulb? Two. One to screw it in, and one, wee little lesbian ... to suck my fucking cock!"

Nope, they just grew up in the ghetto and had a gift for languages.Robert Treder wrote:No, they learned languages when they were kids. Never explicitly. But the imagery and some of the thematic elements make it clear that's the idea. Of course it is debateble whether it's divine protection or luck so good it might as well be.Robert Treder wrote:In fact, the movie never explicitly shows them to have divine protection. Yeah. But my favorite scene has got to be Rocco explaining the dead cat.Robert Treder wrote:EDIT: Speaking of their mom, did you guys watch the deleted scene with her in it? That was fucking hilarious.

When Smecker was interviewing them, they said that their mother had insisted on them learning multiple languages.Stormbringer wrote:Nope, they just grew up in the ghetto and had a gift for languages.

Yeah, there is that too. But I think a lot of it was their own gift for them and exposure.Durandal wrote:When Smecker was interviewing them, they said that their mother had insisted on them learning multiple languages.Stormbringer wrote:Nope, they just grew up in the ghetto and had a gift for languages.

Divine gift first of all. Not diving.Robert Treder wrote:No, they learned languages when they were kids. I think they said their mom made them learn them, but I don't remember. I meant it as in alluding to them being divine, because aren't angels supposed to be able to speak in every language? I thought it was supposed to be symbolic.

And depending on which country you're in, you might have gotten a bare-bones edition of the DVD.
We have a Special Edition I believe. With outtakes, deleted scenes, commentary, etc.

It probably is. There's layer upon layer of symbolism in that movie. Really there's no more than a handful of scene with out something.neoolong wrote:I meant it as in alluding to them being divine, because aren't angels supposed to be able to speak in every language? The best scene has got to be the whole sequence where Smecker is telling the cops what happened at that one house, and he's in the scene with the Saints, from when they leave the car to the end of the shootout with Ill Duce.

Yeah, that's definitely a sweet sequence. I think it's amazing how they used the films editing to show him getting closer and closer to them. It was an excellent scene, very creatively done. Everything from Smecker's positioning in the scenes to where he walked was outstanding. I also love the opening credit sequence.HemlockGrey wrote:The best scene has got to be the whole sequence where Smecker is telling the cops what happened at that one house, and he's in the scene with the Saints, from when they leave the car to the end of the shootout with Ill Duce.
