Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Do you know where EZBoard got an overwhelming percentage of their money from? EQ Boards. When they made "EZSupporter", a lot of EQ players got really, really pissed (Most of us used HTML in our sigs, and this change removed that ability. They probably removed HTML thinking of just us EQ players.) Then, when EZBoard jacked up the prices, most EQ boards just said "Fuck You" and moved over to a much better PHPBB system. Never looked back since.Zac Naloen wrote: And teh FREE!!!!

About avatars: many boards don't allow them to be hosted on the server because they increase bandwidth. A board admin must make a conscious trade-off between user convenience and bandwidth when he decides to enable server-hosted avatars. PHPBB has an option to disable server-hosted avatars, but I decided against it.

Well, one of the reasons anyway.

Well, thanks for all the welcomes, guys! Yes, I am quite enthusiastic, but I have been lurking here on-and-off for around two years (I'm including Mike's Creationism and SW v. ST pages; I only found the board maybe a year ago or so, so I'm not sure how long it's been around), and since I discovered that I reallllllly like a lot of the discussions that take place here, I'm quite sure I will much prefer being a member of the board to continuing to skulk around.

Damn, that's funny. I'm glad I asked! As for the 'occasional typo' bit, you're still light-years beyond most other Web posters in that area, and when I read your posts, my eyes thank you. (Not to insult anyone else here with that statement -- SD.net definitely has a much higher rate of well-written stuff compared with the internet at large!)Darth Wong wrote:Well, I do make the occasional typo, especially when I'm in a hurry, but this is no typo. The RIDGID tool company is a manufacturer of heavy-duty tooling (see their website). They also manufactured the giant 8 foot long wrench that the UW engineering guys use as our mascot for official functions. A bunch of guys dress up like Gregorian monks and parade the Tool around so that others may worship its hardness and length.

Any errors you find in this post are the fault of Secret Villains, whose mad schemes will soon be revealed.

Re: Question for Mike about his sig. . .
Actually, I don't like that option too much, since it meant that I couldn't use my traditional Dancing Monkey avatar (which Darth Pounder is now using in his sig) on this board, since its filesize was over the limit allowed for avatars here.Southpaw wrote:Oh, and I'd like to compliment whoever set it up so that SD.net itself hosts people's personal pics - so much easier than EZboard! :D
'Salright, though, since I kinda like my stormtrooper sprite. Gotta fix that one hand, though.
