How'd ya like the SSBN?
It was in refit mode, so it was more of an industrial area than a real warship. Not as bad as the JFK though. That thing was a mess. The CG was all ready to go though. :D
Heh.

The reason I asked was because I recently got a tour of one (The Wyoming, in case you care), and I was impressed. It is one of the things on the top of my list O' stuff to do when I join the Navy.

Holy crap you get to hold guns and fly planes and look at giagantic cannons and stuff. I wish I got to touch--much less view--weapons capable of slaughtering millions of innocents in a world-wide campaign of conquest!! Speaking of which....We might need a couple of Navy cruisers for that thing...that we do...ya know...*hands RI a gridfire rifle* Go ahead and grab us a couple...

Eh em...and CONGRATS!!! :D

Memories of the Cole perhaps?

I know, in high school, you could joke about shit, like "I got wounded in the Nam" and stuff like that. You just don't do that anymore, however. This is probably one of those cases.

[Former Marine weapons instructor] no you don't [/Former Marine weapons instructor]
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Was it its major refit or just its patrol refit?

Did you happen to see an MT1 Padilla on board? One of my fellow shipmates from my days aboard the the "Stoney J" 8) Theres also an ensign (or maybe junior LT if he's still aboard) Nowalk that I went thru BESS and "A" school with. He was a former ET that went officer.

Rogue Ice is correct, not funny pal. My Workcenter supervisor was on the Cole, his torso looks frankensteinesque.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

No, Muslims. But it's still not something to joke about.

Not sure...looked pretty major to me. They had duct work and crap all torn up all over the place. I think they may've been getting ready to go on patrol though...they mentioned loaded missle tubes.

As to your shipmates, no, sorry. I was led around by a PO2 (I can't remember the rating offhand, but he worked in the Missle Control doohickey around the silos themselves). Maybe one of the other squads was, but I didn't catch their names; they had some First Classes as guides.
