Rain in your state.

We've been having rain in New Mexico finally (hooray). Of course, this didn't happen until we had two fires in Albuquerque, alone, but we've got rain now..

So I've heard that the East Coast generally gets a lot of rain (and it did while I was there, as well). So do you get a lot of rain where you are?

It honestly varies...blasted place has had droughts, and then near floods.

Doesn't help that half the times the rain is either ice-cold or warm and putrid.

we've had hardly any rain in the uk in recent weeks, but im sure winter is gonna be its usual wetness... although im hoping for lots of snow this year

we've been getting a lot of rain lately. the past 11 months have seen greatly elevated levels of rainfall (and snowfall). This summer has been the first in recent memory with no outdoor water restrictions.....mainly because the resevoirs are practically overflowing.

Last night was the first significant rainfall we've had at my house since early spring. We had a windstorm knock out power Friday night, with lots o' lightning, but it gave us about 5 drops of rain.
72 hours without power and not even any rain to cool things off, talk about adding insult to injury.

Here in Brandon, FL we haven't had that much rain the last couple years.. though lately there's been plenty of the stuff coming down.. makes it a pain in the ass trying to get the yard cut though.

Middle-Late Spring, ALL of Summer, and Early-Middle Fall.

Basically, there's so much water, and there's so much sun, that every day most of it evaporates, forms huge storms, rains part of the afternoon, is sunny, rains again, and then nightfall. Thus, you make most of your summer outdoors plans for the morning...

A Nor'easter is a general term for any serious storm that comes through here that originated in the Gulf Stream...

andrew lasted a day. the blizzard of 78 lasted three. and it took a good 2 weeks to dig out. Imagine snow and ice hitting your face at hurricane velocity.

The local hills usually get dusted with snow every year. 1/4" or so, a few times a year. However, ponds freezing over at sea level is a rarity indeed!

Its funny how much of a difference location can make. 14" inches of rain is normal in San Jose. Drive 50 or 60 miles to the north, cross the golden gate bridge and you are talking almost double the rainfall.

Anyway, here in upstate New York we don't get the brunt of the Nor'easters, bet we usually get plenty of rain, especially with the summer thunderstorms.

heh, I saved some newspapers from Hurricane Andrew, that being my real name. The headlines were fun: "Andrew devastates Florida" Hell yeah, feel my wrath

Anyhow, we need rain here baaaaad. The other day, our whole metro area was upgraded to Extreme Drought conditions. Between this year and last, we're about 23" short from average rainfall. July was the driest July on record (~120 years), with a whopping 0.25" of precip, when we would generally get something like 8". And, it's been over 100F (~40C) for 11 of the last 14 days. One day, with heat index, it was 111F here!! It really sucks, everything is brown, and the trees are going into conservation mode, dropping all their leaves now, rather than this fall. It's so dry, we're having to water our foundations so that the dry earth doesn't shift too much more and cause structural damage. It's that dry.

Of course, that's the fun of being a weather geek in the midwest; we get all the extremes of weather. We had a high of 8F one day last winter, and the other day it was 106F (air temp, not heat index). Plays hell with the roads, but it's fun weather watching!
