I don't think it's the first time one of these statues has been forcibly removed from state property. As I understand it, these statues were all the rage for municipalities to put up when the movie The Ten Commandments was released. There's one somewhere in Maryland as well (and last I heard, the case to get rid of it is still in litigation.)

O'reilly's Talking Points is particularly pathetic.Vympel wrote:May I just add that the coverage of this by Fox (who were until a few minutes ago had cameras fixed on the monument as workers milled about it, wondering how to move the monstrosity) has been especially appalling. Not only were soft cock questions thrown underhanded to the fundies outside the courthouse, but when questioning some Democrat congressman on his views, continuously took up the cause of the fundies. Fair and balanced. Made me sick ...
He claims he's writing a book that proves the Founding Fathers wanted God on our minds (cites his ownership of every letter between Madison and Jefferson).
Claims secularists want to remove right and wrong from public view and want nothing judged and that all non-criminal behavior allowed. He makes moralizing laws look good.
