Also the first time I've taken this quiz. It appears I've diverged relatively extensively from my old catholicism, but that wasn't exactly a surprise, now, was it?
(P.S. why isn't Cthulhuism on here?)
1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
2. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (98%)
3. Secular Humanism (95%)
4. Liberal Quakers (90%)
5. Neo-Pagan (87%)
6. Reform Judaism (85%)
7. Theravada Buddhism (82%)
8. Mahayana Buddhism (81%)
9. Scientology (79%)
10. Taoism (77%)
11. Sikhism (76%)
12. New Age (75%)
13. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (70%)
14. New Thought (70%)
15. Nontheist (69%)
16. Bahá'í Faith (64%)
17. Jainism (56%)
18. Orthodox Quaker (55%)
19. Hinduism (52%)
20. Orthodox Judaism (52%)
21. Islam (50%)
22. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (50%)
23. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (48%)
24. Eastern Orthodox (38%)
25. Roman Catholic (38%)
26. Seventh Day Adventist (33%)
27. Jehovah's Witness (20%)
As for the Catholic test, the answers left me borderline between Progressive and Liberal, which is not surprising--though I have a very firm sense of tradition and the vital role of the Papacy in allowing the Church to survive and prosper, and hopefully in the future as well--OTOH, hee, perhaps some of my remaining admiration is for the fact that I ironically know that Catholicism is the true last remnant of the old Earth Mother cults... Council of Ephesus! Ha! It had to be that blatant.. But I digress. Anyway, the problem with the questions was that they really weren't suited for someone clearly standing out of the church.
I am, ultimately and technically, an Apostate, and one by choice. I am of the opinion that someone who is unwilling to obey all dictates of the Church hierarchy should not participate within the Universal and Catholic Church. You either obey, or you leave, and in the end the choice was clear enough for me. My long term hope, however, would indeed be for a Progressive Pope who can use the power of the Papacy to address the clear issues of that the Church has and make it capable of functioning in the modern and industrial world.
That is the advantage the Catholic Church has over protestantism and why it is likely to continue to survive and prosper--it is a body led by an infallible leader, heir to one of the Apostles, who can change doctrine as-is necessary to respond to major changes in society. Protestant churches, limited to interpeting the Bible, with its cumbersome lists of bronze-age or at best iron-age prohibitations, are far less able in truth to cope with the realities of modern society.

I honestly don't understand how someone can be 100% Protestant and 20% Atheist simultaneously. I question the design of that test.

That is a very good question...Darth Wong wrote:I honestly don't understand how someone can be 100% Protestant and 20% Atheist simultaneously. I question the design of that test.
Eh, I have never held these kinds of test in very high credence, anyways. If you can find out your religion in 20 questions, then that is pretty shallow. I think your religion/denomination is something alot deeper and more personal than a simple test.

Hmmm; I'm surprised Catholic was so high. I suppose if they had asked my opinions on the Papacy and communion and such, it would have differed...

I took it, it's interesting... 20 questions, then you get a big list (in order of most to least) of what belief systems your answers closely follow.

I didn't really need a "Belief-o-matic" to tell me what I beleive, but it was a little interesting. I do agree with number 1.

Once it was known as the Codeine Hippo, but so as not to influence a legion of teenage fans, it was renamed the Cosmic Hippo. Most often seen flying through the depths of space, to catch one is to be near the Flecktones themselves.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
