Babylon 5 Galaxy Map

Post by Fuzzy Modem »

May have actually been posted before. I made this a few years ago. I though you guys might find it usefull for... things.

B5 Map

It's gotten pretty popular with the online Fivers. The Babylon Project started using it and it... spread.

Considered posting it in the Art Forum, but it isn't really art per se as much as it is referance material. It's based very loosly after a B5 Wars map, but reworked it from scratch, adjusted it a bit and added jump route speeds to explain away what would otherwise be travel time inconsistencies in the series.

Anyway, if you ever need a rediculously accurate Babylon 5 Wars map, you have one. I really, really had no life when I made this. I probably spent 100 hours on it, getting it as accurate a possible. :p

It is beautiful! How did you find all the star names? Also, where is the Vorlon homeworld?

It is not shown on the map, IMO. But, where is Z'Ha'Dum?

Have a very nice day.

Looks great, but the jump routes probably should have also been differentiated by line thickness rather than just brightness. They're a little hard to see, but not by much.

Fgalkin: Z'Ha'Dum is in the low left hand corner.

Lower right corner.

My own ignorant question: Where is Babylon 5 located? (I never payed much attention to place names.)

uh, wow

This came from B5 Wars? So I guess that means its cannon (well, maybe not this map, but the one you copied)?
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Hot damn...That's gorgeous. My congratulations to that team, they pulled it off very well.

And they've sent expeditions to Vorlon space, none have returned.

After the Vorlons left, the last expedition there was destroyed by the automatic defense systems around their homeworld. Lyta (as the go-between), then tells them that Vorlon Prime (or Venton on this map) will be open for them when they're ready...in a million years (Which is when the episode "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars" occurs. I read over at Midwinter that one of the popular theories is that the Vorlon homeworld is the new human homeworld...

Very nice rendition of the AoG map. Still, I don't see a 3d aspect to it.
