I've noticed that over the years since video stores first became popular that the variety of what they keep in stock has sort of fallen. In some ways it's better than it used to be since they carry Anime and some foreign films now but it used to seem to me that the video store was almost an archive of movies. If you wanted to see a movie that hadn't aired or been in the theater for awhile it was likely going to be at the video store.
Obviously this is a misinterpretation from when I was a kid although I think if Blockbuster stopped wasting video rental space on games it might be slightly more true. It seems like they don't even carry some of the "classics" anymore. Also, around here theres a pretty big Spanish language section that, for the most part, duplicates movies that are available in the main section. Also, is it just me or do too many of the Skinemax style made for cable movies fill up your local video shelves? At the store I got to most of the drama section is filled with soft core cable porn instead of real movies. Certainly I'm glad that some movies that bipass theaters and go direct to video do so but when Shannon Tweed and Red Shoe Diary type videos overwhelm the space that could be used for decent but underappreciated films from the last hundred years I'm always left kind of disappointed with my video store.
Anyway, the point to this thread is that in the past I've come across movies that were only available on old VHS rental tapes in some rental place that never bothered to clear out it's inventory. Some of these are movies I liked in the past and keep waiting for them to be reissued on DVD, or in some cases any type of video.
A couple that I had waited a long time for were The Howling, The Final Countdown and Dragonslayer but they finally made it (or will later this year) but there are others I still like to see.
The Monster Squad -- I just get a kick out of this movie where a group of kids take out revamped versions of Universal's classic monsters.
Mischief -- I'm not sure I like this movie that much but it has a hilarious sex scene in it. Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if that's what keeps it away from release since John Travolta's wife (Kelly Preston) is very naked in much of that scene.
Waxwork and Waxwork II -- Not that either of these are great movies but I like the monster effects and rather enjoy them. I haven't seen either available on video in years.
Godzilla 1985, Godzilla vs. Biollante, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II -- I"m also waiting for the newer G films that haven't been released in the US at all yet but these three have been on video for some time and really need to be put on DVD. I really don't understand why Sony/Tri Star didn't release G vs MGII on DVD when it did all of the other movies it had the rights to. It seems like they were even reluctant to release it on tape. I always get the impression that they were threatened by it's popularity because they were trying to do their own Godzill series.
I suppose we should throw in a Stop Dicking Around and Release it on DVD in Season Sets Instead of Piecemeal rant as well.
I think this should definately apply to various cartoon series that the parent companies are truly screwing the consumer on when they do actually release them.
Batman the Animated Series
The Batman Superman Adventures
Fox's X-Men and Spiderman cartoons from the 90s
On the nostalgia front I'd like to see The Six Million Dollar Man release in season box sets.

By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks.

Ever seen "Virtual Sex with Jenna Jameson"? It's an interactive DVD where you get to control what Jenna does on screen, everything from teasing, playing with herself, or giving head and much more. I'm waiting for an interactive lesbian sex DVD where you get to make 2 chicks do naughty things to each other at your command.
aerius: I'll vote for you if you sleep with me.
Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

I'm waiting for the Bill and Ted movies to come out on DVD. Desperately.

That we dying younger hiding from the police man over there
Just for breathing in the air they wanna leave me in the chair
Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"
