This is so fucking stupid I cannot even begin to explain it.
He did not create the original code, and from the reports his particular little variant was one that was complete crap and only actually afflicted a few thousand computers.
As for your stupid fucking murder example, that's almost as bad as the fucking assholes suing an epileptic that had a fit infront of them for causing "emotional distress" it's on about the same par.
I do believe if script kiddies are to be held responsible, "billy gates" is as also culpable for at least a portion of these damages for creating a product with security that makes Group-4 look competent.

Sure, the kid deserves punishment for this but, he is clearly being made a scape goat because they need a sacrafical lamb to make it look like that are competent. (Of course, the idiot from seattle I saw leading the press confrence on it, did well looking like a fucking moron all by himself, attacthing the word cyber onto everything...)

You will love the irony of this. When I hit "reply" with the intention of making a response about how M$ isn't responsible for people abusing the way their code works, it caused a general protection fault in Internet Explorer. That cascaded into a whole series of GPF's in Yahoo pager, MSN 6, MSN Messenger, and Windows Explorer before I rebooted in disgust. So, fuck M$.

Interestingly enough, before I started blocking all of that useless spam at the source, I received a few of those Blaster/Sobig E-mails, and they seemed to have no effect whatsoever on my installation of KMail running under Linux

I have a simple (too simple?) solution to viri and worms. Simply take the total economic damage, divide it by the median US income, and that's how many years you get to spend in prison. Oh? No, Netscape is outdated versions of mozilla with pieces tacked on. Anyway, the Netscape browser division is now nonexistant, so for any new browsers, you will have to go to mozilla.org
