Yeah, pretty much. DU has never been observed to be extremely harmful, there's a pretty nice summary of the most recent DU research here.

Despite this refusal, it is public knowledge that the U.S. made extensive use of weapons that can fire DU shells. These include the A-10 Warthog tank-buster aircraft with 30-mm cannons that can fire up to 4,200 DU rounds per minute; the AC-130 gunship; the "Apache" helicopter, and Bradley fighting vehicles that fire anti-armor 105-mm to 120-mm tank rounds containing DU.

The FMC factory is not far from my house. If you are lucky sometimes they park one of these "upgunned" Bradley 105" varients in the Costco parking lot across the street. They let you sit inside and for 5 bucks you can fire one of the DU rounds at planes landing at SJO.

According to the Army Environmental Policy Institute, holding a spent DU round exposes a person to about 200 rems per hour, or twice the annual radiation exposure limit.

If there where true the person would have a lethal dosage of radiation in two to three[/i] hours and be quite from it dead within a week or so. So its been how many months since we dumped all this evil DU on the citys and the millions of dead bodies are being hidden where exactly?

The guy who wrote that article doesn't know shit.

First off, DU rounds are a penetrator, and not a coating.

Second, there is no way you can fit a 105 or larger caliber gun on a Bradley at this time with the current turret configuration. The recoil would turn the turret crew into a pastey tastey...

But then most people on this board should know these things.
