Rolled Sushi
Kappa maki
oshinko maki
tekka maki
Salmon maki
Green Maki
Veggie Roll
California Roll
Salmon Skin Roll
Spicy Tuna Roll
Scallop Roll
Spicy Scallop Roll
Negitoro Roll
Dynamite roll
Double Dynmaite Roll
Yam Roll
Unakyu Roll
Futo Maki
Dragon's Eye Roll
I kinda figured these are the ones rolled in rice and wrapped with seaweed. Prices range from $3-$6.50 a serving, but it doesn't say how big a serving is.
Maki is usually in a six pack. I suggest starting with the California rolls and then moving to the tekka maki (tuna rolls) and then picking up the others as you want.
Nigiri Sushi (2 pieces per order)
Avocado
Asparagus
Tamago
Inari
Maguro
Sake (Salmon?)
Ebi
Ika
Saba
masago
Tako
Toro
Spicy Scallop
Ama Ebi
Unagi
Hamachi
This is the formed fingers of sushi, right? With the fish laid over the rice? Anyway, prices for the 2 piece serving range from $2.75-$4.50.
Yes, those would be the fingers of sushi. Here, I'd suggest the veggies and then move to the fish. Be careful of the tamago (egg done omelette style) sushi, I've found a lot of places serve it cold so it may not be to your liking.
And I highly recommend miso soup. Yummy. ^_^

Psh, most Japanese people can't pronounce English for shit, so why should most Americans be able to pronounce Japanese properly?

It's okay, Mark, I'm starting to really drive SirNitram nuts with my "Ya wanna go? Ya wanna go?" the past couple days. But, I've found a solution: Call my friend Cai! he even suggested bringing in a couple more friends, since the restaurant serves more than just sushi. Cai also suggested dragging SirNit by his short hairs "because a guy oughta take his girl out, not leave her alone with friends!"

:lol: I love my Cai-Cai. He's so much the Jewish Mom.

Nitram, slightly high on cough syrup: Do you know you're beautiful?
Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

Psh, most Japanese people can't pronounce English for shit, so why should most Americans be able to pronounce Japanese properly?

Because for people of average intellect it should be easier to pronounce japanese than take a shit:

Vowels

A=ah
I=ee
U=oo
E=eh
O=oh

consonent+vowel
ka ga sa za ta da na ha pa ba ma ya ra wa
ki gi shi ji chi ni hi pi bi mi ri
ku gu su zu tsu nu fu pu bu mu yu ru
ke ge se ze te de ne he pe be me re
ko go so zo to do no ho po bo mo yo ro

consonent+slide+vowel
kya gya sha ja cha nya hya pya bya mya rya
kyu gyu shu ju chu nyu hyu pyu byu myu ryu
kyo gyo sho jo cho nyo hyo pyo byo myo ryo

N is the only consonent which can "Stand alone"
na ni nu ne no n

before p,b,m N is pronounced "M"

before t,ts,d,n,ch,j N is pronounced "N"

before k,g N is pronounced ng

there's more but I'm lazy. :wink:

Because the Japanese people don't have many of the English word sounds in their language. We have all the sounds for the Japanese language in the English language, and furthermore, all Japanese words are spelled phonetically. Therefore, if sake was pronounced "saki", it would be spelled as such.

Sushi's great. Don't accidentally dip it in wasabi, though, unless you're ready for it.
Heh, and don't try dulling it with soy sauce. Not tasty.

From the second list you could also try the Unagi fairly safely. It's freshwater eel that's cooked in a sort of sweet sauce, and tres tasty. If you're feeling brave, try fatty tuna, very rich. Don't go when you're really hungery, or you'll eat your way out of about $20 if you like it.
But the advice so far has been generally good.
