Lessee... it's thought that my last name, 'Diller' is probably Germanic in origin and means that one of my ancestors tended dill.

The other thought, brought up by my sister is that it's somehow means 'Destroyer', which I'm not sure at all where it comes from. If so, it would be oxymoronic when compared to both my middle names.

As to the answering of the actual question, I don't really see any point to it.

The same applies to "Richard Head", and "Frances Hole"

My last name is Klix.
You ever heard of that? do you know what I went through in school when people FINALLY figured out what it rhymes with?
Try this:

Can't I have Smith? Or Jones. Jones is good. Hell, i'd even settle for

I have no problem with my last name, I think its cool as long as you pronounce it right, although its a common French 'peasant' last name (well common in France, but rare in North America) so I can't really trace family history.

Last time I checked there were at least a couple pages of Lin's in the phone book. Hell, we have several family friends with the same surname. At least it's nice and easy to spell, at least it would be if people weren't so dumb. When a guy with a distinct asian accent says his last name is "Lin", it's not spelled "Lynn". Customer service people are dumb.

Meh...my surname is sort of unique anyways, and it has a traceable lineage for more than 200 years back, farther if you don't get into deep specifics, so, I don't think I would change it.

See, here's the problem:

The only time a man's last night will ever change is if he decides to go to court and get it legally changed, or if he's been adopted.

A woman's name changes every time she gets married.

A woman's name changes every time she gets married.
Not neccessarily(sp?), at least not here.
While that's the way it usually happens, you can also keep your old last name, adopt a double name comprised of both parties last names, and , as I recently found out, it's even possible for the man to adopt the woman's last name.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

Bah. There have been Linebergers in this country since the late 17th century, a number of them war heroes. It would be a disgrace to change it.

I would not want to change my surname of Wing. Changing my first name would be nice since it doesn't match that well.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."
