NEW YORK (Billboard) - Having already left his mark on TV via uproarious appearances on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" and the MTV Video Music Awards, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is clawing his way into the music business.
The canine hand puppet's debut album, "Come Poop With Me," is due Oct. 7 via Warner Bros. and will come bundled with a bonus DVD.
A mix of music, interviews, phone calls and sketches, "Come Poop With Me" finds Triumph backed by members of the "Late Night" band, including guitarist Jimmy and horn player Jerry Vivino. Also dropping by for guest appearances are O'Brien, Adam Sandler, Tenacious D's Jack Black, Horatio Sanz and Subway pitchman Jared Fogle.
The DVD features live performances of such tracks as "Together in Pooping" featuring Sandler, O'Brien, Black, Sanz and Maya Rudolph, as well as interviews with MTV's Kurt Loder and Iann Robinson and comedians Janeane Garofalo and Robert Wuhl.
A video for first single "I Keed" will premiere on MTV and MTV2 during the week of release. Triumph, who is voiced by comedian/writer Robert Smigel, will also perform on "Late Night" in early October. Live shows are also being planned for a handful of markets.
