has anyone else noticed
the stock market, the American indexes over the past 2 quarters or so have gone up! hell i'm making money again! The DJIA is up around 9600 again, within a good week striking distance of the great 10,000! Shit, half a year ago it was down around 7500. And mutual funds, most of mine (like MFS Emerging Growth, MFS Large Cap Growth-A for example) popped 15-20% in the quarter just ended and are jumping 2%/week so far this quarter! Anyone else having good results? Thoughts?

I'm excited though, I'm thinking about maybe putting my IRA in a money market fund.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Companies are still RIFFING employee's. Stocks go up when that happens. Things are slowly turning around, but there still isnt any hiring. So while your stocks might be doing better, there wont be light for us unemployeed/underemployeed for a long time.
I put about half my IRA back into the market a month ago or so. I should have done it in March. Its actually down about 3-5%. But you cant time the market so exactly. And anyway at the time, I needed the account to be cash just in case I needed to make an emergency withdraw.

thats just the thing, employment is always the last thing to change. we saw that in the beginning of the recession. The market plunge started in early 2000, then the GDP started dropping and then employment fell. Now The markets are consistantly rising, the GDP is rising and then, when business leaders feel it safe again, hiring will increase.TrailerParkJawa wrote:Companies are still RIFFING employee's.
