I'm talking about the fact you can see the galactic disk in the sky, or that of another galaxy, either way Dantooine should be outside the disk. And that's an in-comic visual.

And besides, who says that the maps are wrong? Dantooine could be exactly where they say it is, but above the plane of the disk. The maps are, after all, 2-D, and the galaxy is 3-D.

It helps explain why Dantooine is so remote despite the fact that further outlying systems are more developed and have more industry, population, etc. And the galaxy doesn't terminate along specific lines. The halo, the bulge, and the disk are all parts of the galaxy. The Old Republic is in the galaxy.

I thought it was in Force Heretic III, or some NJO book. Something about dark matter having prevented the galaxy's inhabitants from exploring outside the galactic disk.

Ok, since you didn't respond to my point at all, but instead pasted in a cookie cutter argument, I'm going to operate under the assumption you didn't read what I said at all, merely saw I disagreed with you and went on with your rectial.

As such, I'm going to wait for you to go back and rectify your mistake now.

What? Just because its KJA it gets totally thrown out when it works that the maps are just fine, just its above or below the plane?

Is the sequence with the disk supposed to be a hallucination because its "metaphorical"?

And besides, your original counter had nothing to do with my point, which was, what prevents the maps from including some stars which may be just above or below the actual physical disk, or nearby in satellite? Is there something which forces this?

We already know from AOTC that there are colonized parts of the galaxy which are part of other regions, like Kamino itself in relation to the Rishi Maze.

I don't see why there's this need to assume that the planet Rishi and the Rishi Maze are coincidences.

Bullshit. We saw from AOTC that the galaxy is relatively normal. A direct collision with a galactic-mass worth of anything, whether it be dark matter, normal matter, black holes, whatever, would tear the galaxy apart via tidal forces.

And besides, it contradicts past material which did the job just fine anyway.
Galaxy Guide wrote:The term "Unknown Region" is a general term for any sector of space which is officially unexplored. Covering literally billions of stars, most of these areas are thousands of light years from the Core Worlds, in the most distant areas of the galaxy. Most of these areas of space remain mysterious and unexplored, and are one of the prime subjects of Scout Service scrutiny. There are also several areas within the boundaries of New Republic and Imperial space which remain "unknown" as fas as the general public is concerned. Many of these regions have been explored, but for some reason remain restricted to civilian travel.
(emphasis mine)

It makes more sense as just a general term for ignored or unexplored systems and sectors.

Whatever government controls it at the time. The Republic, or the Empire.

But more often then not, it's simply, generically, reffered to as the galaxy.

Out of the universe however, it's the GFFA (Galaxy Far, Far Away).

Simply GFFA (galaxy far far away), IIRC it has not been officially named yet.

Damn I was hoping to use the name in the Twilight War Fic as it will soon become tedious to have the Federation refer to their allied galaxy as the Republic's Home Galaxy, but I guess if there's no canon answer I'm stuck. :?

Well, what else would they call their galaxy other than "the Galaxy"? We only call ours "the Milky Way" after a part of the sky...

Make something up from the early drafts.

Ok, first off I misunderstood your position.

thast said, the visual in Tales doesn't indicate being above or below the galactic plane: It indicates being way the fuck out there. Earth is off set from the plane, hence why I can step outside and see the milky way. But While I see a pearly stripe, he "sees" the entire galaxy.

Hence why I think we are viewing his thoughts, and not the actual galaxy. He is dwelling on his failure, and how it has brought war to the galaxy (the galaxy runs red with spilt blood is a simple to fit metaphore). Lets face it, the guy is resigning himself to failure, and isn't in the most stable frame of mind right then.

Also, WRT the develpoment of Dantooine, it could have been a sanctuary preserve for the natives, much as Endor was for the ewoks. Hence the lack of development.
