Have you ever wondered that almost every SD.net user is white ? Just take a look at the pictures thread. I know the creator of this site is not and there are some others also. But they are a small minority.

This is rather disturbing that this site could be so racists. I am not saying that SD.net admins employ racist policies but for some reasons blacks, asians and other races people do not seem to join this site.

Anyway, you can probably accuse this board of being sexist too under that logic, since the majority of posters on the board are male. Or that it's homophobic, because the majority of the posters are heterosexual. Or that it's agist, since the overwhelming majority of posters are under 30...

I am not accusing anybody. I am just making an observation. Why should the overwhelming majority of members be white ? White people are not the most numerous in the world. Even taking into account the technology gap between the west and the deveoloping world does not answer the question.

This site does not probobly have a single Black or Indian member. Is it not unusual considering the billions of Indians and Africans and of course so many Blacks in the technologicaly advanced west ?

As I have said before I am not accusing anyone. I am merely making an observation. If I am wrong please feel free to correct me.

Well...most Warsies and sci-fi fans happen to be in the caucasian demographic, with the asian demographic being thrown in as a significant minority. Don't ask me why.

I do believe Armor Pierce is black, so is neoolong I think(but am not sure correct me if I am wrong) We have a healthy supply of asians or course...

As far as native Americans are conerned, we have Verilon.

Maybe it is because the majority of people who love scie-fi are European/north american, white, and under 30...

It isnt a matter of racism, it is a simple matter of demographics.

The board is quite diverse actually, and we all get along for the most part. I know for a fact that the board has a sizable hispanic and asian population. But the bottom, as far as i'm concerned, is who fucking cares? Oh. and watch who you call racist, asswipe.

Oh, so every person that is white is a racist, now? Because that's what you're claiming here, that just because I'm not a member of a minority I automatically have racist feelings towards other ethnic or racial groups. If anything, that's a racist attitude on your part, because you've made an assumption about my personality and actions based solely on my race. Next I suppose it'll be to claim that I'm sexist, because very few women are members of the board here. Or maybe you'll claim that, because I'm from the US, I hate every other country on Earth, because that's what Ugly Americans (TM) do. Did you ever think that maybe it's because, as someone else mentioned, that the demographics of the fan base for ST, SW, and sci-fi in general are involved? If 10% of the world's population were Hispanic, but only 2% of all sci-fi/SW/ST fans were Hispanic, what percentage of Hispanic members would you expect to find here on this board? That's right: 1%, not 10%.

No, you made an observation (that it seemed like there were very few non-Caucasian members here), and then followed it with a conclusion (that SD.net might be racist) based solely on the ethnicity of the board's membership. Being a racist is about the actions and viewpoints you have... key of which is making snap judgements about people based solely on their ethnicity. Which is what you just did.

Maybe you could have been clearer in your comments. Maybe you could have said it differently. Maybe you really aren't racist at all in your actions. But the statement you made can be construed very easily to be a racist comment, and if you didn't mean for it to be you may want to think hard about it to make sure you aren't misunderstood again.

I must say, that is the dumbest assumption I have seen in a long time. Just because the board is a majority of white males does not make us raxist and sexist. It just means we happen to make up the majority of the board. I welcome those of other cultures, raxes, and genders to come here and would treat them with equal respect.

You are disonestly forgeting the huge amount of people of asiatic origin who post their pics frequently, aerius and jmac among many others
