He probably has none. If Serenno is also the name of the comital house whereto he belongs, his name would be Dooku of Serenno prior to accession, and then Dooku, Count of Serenno, afterward.

It's Bob.

The First Law of One-named Characters specifically states "that any sufficiently recognized character with only one name given so that the audience wonders about his first name, is always named Bob."

Really?

I can see why he went to the Dark Side. Geez, I'd be lightning zapping people too if my name was Fauntleroy.

I believe it's the same as Yoda's first name. Abdul.

They're both Abdul Dooku and Abdul Yoda.

I think this is the most plausible explanation...

Hmm... if the Bob rule only applies to male characters, what is the per-definition first name of a one-named female character?? Sheila??

Actually, "Abdul" is Arabic for "Servant of" - so Abdul Dooku would mean "Servant of Dooku".

Am I alone in thinking that Lucas should have tried a little harder in giving this character his name? Maybe ol' George named him "Count Poopoo Dooku" privately.
My brother, who despises SW with every fiber of his being, laughed when the name scrolled upscreen in the theater. It is a bit silly. He could have spelled it "Duqu", at least...

You are aware that Dooku (well the name is a variation on the word the actual spelling is different) is japanese for poison, right?

Nooo, I was not. I've heard people speculate that Nute Gunray is a corruption of Newt Gingrich, though.

One thing is for certain - the Neimoidian senator Lott Dod is named after Trent Lott...

And Michael Dod. Those were the two chief people gunning for Clinton, whom Lucas liked.

Vader certainly means "father" in Dutch. I don't know about "Darth".

BTW - is it possible that Palpatine is named after the Palatine Hill of Rome?

I'm clutching at straws but Ronald Reagan's last name sounds a lot like Raygun, switched into Gunray; and he used to be in a movie called Knute Rockne All American. Knute = Nute?

*shrug* I dunno...

He might be one of those guys who think they're too good to have a full name, so they only go by one, like Cher, Bono, or God. His first name is probably some wierd name that would go well with "Dooku".
