you have to understand his experiences compared to yours. He's a combat soldier. You are sitting at home typing on a computer. Your biggest brush with death will probably be when a guy steals your wallet. Its rediculous to sit at your home computer and criticize a soldier for being decensitized to war--the ones who arent are the ones who cant handle it and flip out. Its necessity--decensitize or die.
When your in the shit, everything is different. Stuff like that is commonplace. It speaks more about the reality's of the middleeast--charred remains, exploded buses and strewn body's litter the streets and are so common place that they dont shock onlookers.
Also understand that the body's he is pointed out are not the "good guys"--suicide bombers and Iraqi soldiers. Laugh away. When you have these same people shooting at you and yur driving around in a tank trying to blow them up, coming across their remains is no concern for shock, especially when the mission objective is to capture and kill as many iraqi soldiers as possible.
I like that photo of them driving into the little town and everyone has come out to cheer them on. Too bad not all places are like that.

You make a good point. However, it gives him no fucking right to gloat about those pictures, especially not in the internet. I really can't say that I have much respect for him, but I personally found his fellow posters much more disgusting. Here's what some of them wrote (emoticons excluded):
"Oh YEAH! Warms the cockles of my heart to see that our friendly reception was returned in such an orderly, proficient, military manner. OO-RAH!!
Got some diesel syrup for Pancake Man Flambe'?"
"Awsome!
I have new screen savers to piss off my liberal co-workers"
"Thanx for your service, and thanks for reminding me to thank god i was born here in the US and not some middle eastern shithole"
"that 50 ammo appeares to be S.L.A.P..
Saboted light armor piercing.
our tax dollars at work"
"Were those two dead Iraqis lying head to head or were they Siamese Twins?"
"Damn Dis, you guys didn't kick any ass, you friggin REMOVED it !!!
Seeing those pics makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. You guys are some badass muthafuggers !"
Of course not everyone made posts like these. Here's a good example: "With very few exceptions, I don't rejoice at the sight of dead bodies. Nobody ever should. I'm just glad that so few of them were Americans."
Too bad I didn't see another post like that one in that thread...

He may well be desensitized, but the other posters have no excuse whatsoever. And while talking about your experience is fine, putting photos of it on the internet, with the obvious relish this guy exhibits, is disturbing to say the least.Oberleutnant wrote:@ Bored and zombie

yes, i agree, the other posters were acting in a very twisted way about it. The soldier at least was there--he was the one with his life on the line, being shot at, seeing dead bodies all around, putting his life on the line. Its part of his job to be relieved at the sight of dead iraqi soldiers. The other posters however are just office workers, and they're getting off over the sight of death and gore. The pictures sure are interesting to be sure, but i dont think any of us should be cheering the pictures of dead civilians in a burnt out bus and saying "take that you bastards, the US kicks ass!". But of course, violence is entertainment, the middle east is a shithole to live in, we should be glad to live in the US or any democracy and the sight of killed iraqis is most definitly preferable to the sight of killed Americans, so i cant lynch those posters for really saying anything other than what is obvious. Many of them appear to be in military families as well, so im sure this kind of stuff is not considered shocking or horrific to them . Most the dead bodies in the photos were iraqi soldiers anyway, they got what was coming to them.
I'll swallow your soul!
