was pre-JKO, where Kyle's uber-Jedi wanking makes it seem like he can focus simulatenously on all the shrapnel that is suddenly sprayed at him and redirect it simulatenously all in the same direction.
Well, technically, Kyle couldn't block it all, since the Flechette was a handy anti-Jedi weapon (much like the Repeater in "Jedi Knight" with its secondary 3 shot burst function... the Jedi blocks some but not all the shots, and he gets worn down).
In the original Jedi Knight you could stand still and block a continuous stream of shots from the Repeater and reflect them ALL back at the shooter if you were sufficient Jedi rank (your skill with the saber goes up with each ranking).
Of course these are still game tactics we're talking about (but then people keep bringing up the RPG's so I assume it's fair).
Blocking fast shots has been seen in the movies though (Obi-Wan blocked all of Jango's dual blaster pistol shots, and Mace blocked a series of shots as he was falling in mid-air in the Genosis Arena whilst stripping off his burning robe from Jango's flamethrower, AND was able to get himself a safe landing... not bad!), Obi & Qui Gon blocking the Droideka's automatic fire, etc.
Ysalamari were stupid, but then YV were far worse...
Though, I guess it wouldn't be too hard to imagine somebody who uses the force to "block" the force of others. But that's an alternate interpretation of how its explained in the EU. Go figure...
