What? That's supposed to make it better?Shadow wrote:first, they this was not the first time they came. Just the first the they landed, and they actually came to monitor the launch of Sputnik. Sceond, it is stated they come every 20 years in this episode. Third, the Vulcans were not interested in earth En First Contact.
That actually makes it much worse.
Maybe not.

I mis-typed the URL.
Here's the story.
Here's the story.
The second-season premiere of UPN's Enterprise on Sept. 18 ranked fourth among the major broadcast networks, Media Week reported. The 8 p.m. relaunch kicked off with a 4.9 rating, below the series premiere's 9.1 rating on Sept. 26, 2001, or the average 6.9 rating of the first season's second through fourth episodes, the magazine reported.
The 9 p.m. debut of UPN's new Twilight Zone held onto Enterprise's audience, with a healthy 4.6 rating, just 6 percent below the Enterprise lead-in and 18 percent above the season premiere of former time-period occupant Special Unit 2 on Oct. 3, 2001 (3.9).
One would hope that B&B would use this info to try to improve Enterprise. However, that is hoping for too much.Sabastian Tombs wrote:I mis-typed the URL.

I suspect their 'solution' will be "more nekk1d babes" rather than better writing...paladin wrote: One would hope that B&B would use this info to try to improve Enterprise. However, that is hoping for too much.
It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

Im just starting on the first "episode" of Enterprise. I'm going to use all the same characters, instead of T'Pol. We dont need T'pol. There will be no TCW, no Klingons, and no Suliban. I'll try and stay as close to the continuity of TOS as i possibly can. I'll first post it in fanfic, then i'll actually make a crappy site or something if i get good reactions.

Changes I'd make
1). I'd keep the Temporal Cold War and use the infinite universe/grandfather paradox theory of time travel to say the entire series isn't in the same timeline as TNG, DS9, or VOY.
2). No transporters for the Enterprise.
3). There would be more use of the transporters by other races (Vulcans, Suliban, etc) since there should be no reason why Earth would have similar technology as the rest of the galaxy.
4). In order to explain disrepencies in warp drive (four days to Ku'Nos at warp 4.5 from earth would make Ku'Nos 1.65 lys from Earth in "Broken Bow" and the fact that Enterprise covered five lys in two days in "Detained") by saying warp velocities varies in different volumes of space, which is why warp factors are given instead of actually distances covered over time lys per day or multiple numbers of c.
5). Replace the Enterprise weaponry. The torpedos would be high-yield nuclear weapons (if they already aren't), the phase cannon would be replaced by X-ray lasers, and polarized hull plating would be replaced by both electric armor and plasma shielding. I'd leave the high tech stuff in the hands of the Vulcans and Suliban.
6). I'd have as many non-humanoid aliens as possible. I'd use CGI and Jim Henson's Creature Shop puppetry (I believe that is what they do on Farscape) as much as budget would allow.

FUQ FUQPatrick Degan wrote:With a tropical storm blowing in, and The Civil War on PBS, tonight's episode of Boobyprise completely slipped my memory (not that I was making a special effort to remember anyway). I did see the promo trailer while chanel surfing, and the moment I saw the one Vulcan blathering about catching I Love Lucy on TV, I knew I pretty much saw the whole episode in a nutshell. Just take the Ferengi In Roswell episode from DS9, add in bits from First Contact and "City On The Edge Of Forever", add to blender and set for High Puree, pour and serve.
