I wonder how many people will take advantage of it?

How many people will take advantage of it?

"There is one born every minute"

That's probably how many.

I agree though, this is like saying "confess to one lawsuit so we can sue you for other things".

Now, there is a small chance (like 1 in a billion) that it includes amnesty from prosecution from there members and that they will keep your confession secret and not let it be used against you.

I HIGHLY doupt that though.

And so do the apes I mentioned earlier

I'd actually expect a fair number, most of them either the easily intimidated or else those who haven't thought out the ramifications of signing that paper.

I wonder if they'll refine this process... say by having you make a videotape which starts off "I am making this recording of my own free will..."

Hey, look at MicroSoft. People buy from them, even though M$'s opinion of customers isn't that high either...

*sigh* It's funny isn't it?

If we look back far enough and piece together every RIAA related news article from the beginning of the file-sharing era, we'd probably get a fairly accurate representation of the steps the Roman Empire stooped to in its last days

Why stop there? Look at their reaction to cassette tapes, digital audio tapes, and recordable CDs. *Every single time* they were whining to Congress about how they needed to be protected from the Dread Music Pirates.

If other industries had followed the same pattern, buggy whip manufacturers would get 10-15% of the money on every car sold and the introduction of word processors would have been hamstrung to protect the typewriter industry.
