Empire Switches roles with Borg in ST:FC, ST History Changes
Lets say that instead of the Borg attacking the Earth to kill Zephram Cochrane in ST:FC, the Empire has to do it instead. Perhaps because of some horrible outcome of a NR/UFP attack that destroys the Remenant, so they time-travel to do the UFP in (why they wouldn't time-travel to kill the Rebellion is a better question, but not the point of this thread anyways).
Lets say the Empire has taken significant losses, and can't spare something as powerful as a ISD to do the job. Instead the only supplies you get is one hyperdrive equipped Lambda-class shuttle, with enough rations to survive for months, inside you have:
1.) 20 E-11 equipped stormtroopers, each armed with a single thermal detonator
2.) 6 E-WEB repeating blasters
3.) 2 speeder bikes
Unfortunatley you DO NOT have the 7 laser cannons on the shuttle, this only a cargo version (nuking Cochrane from space is pretty cheap, after all).
Do you think you can get past the E-E, the team of the E-E, and get to Cochrane and kill him? Considering your limited resources, is it wise fly in guns blazing in hopes of killing him? Or is a more stealthy approach more suitable to this mission?
Be warned you must complete this mission before Cochrane finishes the ship (which I'm not sure how long that took once Picard arrived), and catches the eye of the Romulans, who have the firepower to stop you.

Don't you mean the Vulcans?
Anyway, if it were up to me, I'd stealthily hide and let Cochrane make his flight, when the Vulcan ship lands, the E-E will go away, and as they're having their happy little first contact, BAM! Come out all guns blazing, nice and tidy.

An even more interesting twist: what if you in fact were followed by the E-E andthe Borg? A strange coincidence yes, but it could change things forever for ST. Now the Imps are smart, but have limited resources, and the Borg are idiots, but with the taking of the E-E they have near unlimited resources (to kill such few people).
The Imps won't just sit on their hands and let the Borg try to handle it (and since they fail anyways...), so can Picard handle the Imps and the Borg? Can The Imps handle the Borg? Or is it can the Borg handle the Imps? Dun dun dun.

Easy. The stormies advise Cochrane of the wimpiness of Federation. Cochrane tells crew of E-E to leave. Stormies board the E-E by force. Defeat Borg and crew of E-E in record time. stormies them have 29 1/2 days to kill in mean time.

The argument is moot
No matter the outcome of the specific incident, it makes no difference to history. Whatever you do in an alternate timeline has ZERO effect upon the timeline you departed from. Any timeline in which Zephram Cochrane is killed before completing the warp experiment is by definition an alternate from the one in which he did, resulting in the "future" you wished to alter or abolish in the first place. But the fact remains: in the universe you came from, Cochrane succeeded.

Screw killing Cochrane. If I were the Imperials, I'd just take over Earth. Sure we only have limited supplies of E-11s, but people on Earth in that time still made real weapons. Hell, in a few years, they'll start churning out plasma rifles and any redneck yahoo (ref. Broken Bow) could get their hands on 'em.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:Lets say that instead of the Borg attacking the Earth to kill Zephram Cochrane in ST:FC, the Empire has to do it instead. I mean, it's like Fallout on Earth. They'll be looking for strong leaders to impose order, rebuild civilization, etc, etc, etc.

Its assumed it already time traveled back(After all Time Travel is a big no no in SW so it can do it naturaly on its own so we assume Q did it and let it get past the ships)um.... That shuttle is not even going to get anywhere near Earth.
It still has to get past 300+ UFP ships before it can time traval

First set up some good kill zones around the camp with the E-webs. Simply land the remaining stormies at the Pheonix and destroy it. Then sweep the camp killing everyone you can and drive them into the E-web fire.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:Lets say that instead of the Borg attacking the Earth to kill Zephram Cochrane in ST:FC, the Empire has to do it instead.
Then call the E-E and ask for surrender terms. Send one trooper up with a concealed thermal detonator and have him blow himself up while on the bridge. Proceed to storm the crippled E-E with guns blazing.

Lamba-Class shuttle is ment to get important imperial officers out of losing battles through Cap ships and enemy fighters. The Emp thought it safe enough to travel by. I think it can hall ass through a few UFP ships, past the E-E, land near a town so the E-E won't blast them from space, and kill everyone in site.
