Yeah, but the simple fact is that its because everyone is wearing armour that half the shit works, or doesn't.

If you put a full match on with noone wearing armour the tacklers would be fucking themselves up more than the tacklee...

Its why I play Rugby AND Gridiron, you learn just what works and why.

Seriously, Rugby doesn't give nearly as many injuries as you would think. Assuming your playing by the rules that won't get you sent off...

Try the stuff they pull in american football though and you would break people after long enough. That said, I'd be curious to watch a rugby team play against an Nfl team in both situations...like a face off of the two games.

Been done. An NFL team toured the world playing nations at their own games. They got thoroughly butt-fucked by Rugby Union teams.

Also believe me when I saw that the armour is not there to protect you, its there to fuck others up/let them fuck you up. The best place for a helmet is not on your head, its being smashed into the side of an opposing linemans knee. Pads are half the time being pushed up into your throat and generally prove to be more hassle than they are worth.
