The normal DVD of TTT has no extra footage Im aware of. Saw it last week.

edit: By extra footage, I mean deleted scenes. Not commentary stuff.

There was a preview of the Extended edition on the TTT standard edition.

It is basically the same format as the Extended edition of the first movie, and you can expect the same sort of stuff.

I'm still waiting for the extra special boxed edition with bookend versions of Orthanc and Baradur. I haven't seen anything that says they will realease anything like that but one can hope.

The bookend Argonath was cool, the Gollum statue is just meant to scare people.

The book end Argonath is currently a DVD-end in my house.

And i can't help but notice that quite a few of the special featues seem to be the same as some of the ones on the FoTR special edition. ( Book to screenplay, Story boards and pre-viz, bigatures)

The FOTR extended edition is well worth it IMO.

It is if you're a fan of the book. But if you're not then there's no need to rush out and buy the Extend Edition. What's added isn't vital plot points but just detail for the die hard fans.

That's the idea. Sort of a continuation of the stuff from FotR.

While I really like and enjoy the extended edition of the FotR is there anyone else that thinks the theatrical version gives a better sense of urgency and of impending doom?

I thought something similar about the original theatrical version of Aliens. I think in both cases the pace of the movie is faster the way it was initially released.


I am, however looking forward to the extended edition of TTT. From the bits I've seen I think it'll will be an improvement over the theatrical version were the FotR Extended Edition was more a cool alternate version.
