Blasphemy. the only true chowdah is new england clam chowdah. Unless it's made with gator tail....I'm seriously going to try that. Then it becomes Florida Gator Chowdah and OWNS YOU ALL!

I think they may have had it briefly at the aptly named stand, the Bread Boule, at Pennsic, but I've never seen it elsewhere.LadyTevar wrote:ALL HAIL THE NEW ENGLAND CLAM CHOWDER BREAD BOWL!!!!!

It'd be easy enough to make one...buy a sourdough loaf, some campbell's chunky new englad style clam chowdah, cut out the middle, grab some harvest crisps, crank the A/C down to 15 degrees (simulating northern winter) bundle up, and pretend you're sitting on a boston dock, looking out at the harbor, in a recliner, eating my clam chowdah in a sourdough loaf with harvest crisps...5 grain, of course....mmmh.....then I go inside where it's warm.

Right here. It's very easy, actually. And what most people are accostumed to is way too thick. Not the one, true, traditional chowder.Ghost Rider wrote:Just getting the fresh mollusks is my only problem.Gil Hamilton wrote:OK, now, how many people can make New England clam chowder from scratch? *raises his hand and looks around*

I'm hungrey now damn you all!
I don't like seafood, so corn chowda is all I eat.
As a sidebar: What does 'Gator taste like? Is it like snake? (UUUUmmm, snakeums) Chicken plus.
I would think reptile meat would all be similar. (Drool)
'Gator chowda, I'll have to try it. (Stomach growels)

The first place I ever had clam chowder was at a restaurant on Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco. It was only the appetiser/soup but ever since then I've been hooked, and prefer to eat it in a sourdough bread bowlwhen I can.LadyTevar wrote:ALL HAIL THE NEW ENGLAND CLAM CHOWDER BREAD BOWL!!!!!Tsyroc wrote:Best served in a bowl made from a hollowed out loaf of sourdough bread.Vorlon1701 wrote:New England, can't get enough of it.

New England clam chowder, although it has to be very thick with seafood bits. Manhattan clam chowder could be excellent if it's done with the right spices, but usually it just ends up tasting like tomato soup with some seafood chunks in it.
