Call me a fucking cunt if you like, but I sense a lot of hipocracy.

The number of people who die from hunger and poverty and stuff like that everyday is way bigger. But no one really gives a shit about them.

More people die from smoking everyday (one every 10 seconds).

Still a very tragic event, but people are neglecting what can be prevented. You can't do anything for the people that died, but you can still help those who are alive.

That said, R.I.P. Except for the hijackers.

The title of this thread is "A moment of silence and tribute".

I would appreciate it if you moved the "get over it" crap elsewhere as you two do nothing but invite flames with your statements.

Who said we haven't? Do not post such things again, As Dalton noted that is not the point about this thread.

At least not in the "moment of silence and tribute" thread... if you feel this way, post it in the N&P forum, or you could just stick it in my HOS thread, that's where it will end up anyway, it seems...

Oh, and although I don't agree with the general opinion on this, I DO offer my condolances to those who lost family/friends...

Indeed. There is a HoS thread, where you can post whatever you want.

Sorry if I'm a little pissed of, but having the misfortune of seeing the the second tower collapse from my classroom window, I think its not up to them to decide when we should move on.

Have a very nice day.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

What bugs me most about the "move on" people is we don't get these tributes on the TV every day or even monthly. Its always in the background of political debates because US foreign policy has forever been changed by 9/11. But to tell people to move on on the VERY FUCKING DAY is just plainly ridiculous. This is the single day we set aside to remeber what happened and the reponses from these fuckwits is move on?! Sorry if 9/11 tributes today pissed you off but maybe just maybe some people actually lost friends and family and maybe a city has been indelibaly altered by this event. Don;t worry, your monster truck rallies and Dragonballz will be on later tonight and life will return right back to normal tomorrow. But if you still think you sound cool by telling people to move on during their day of remebrance go right on ahead asshat.
Wherever you go, there you are.

Wrong, many people do worry and work towards eliminating both, which has been acomplished with a great degree of success in first world societies. The number of portuguese who die from starvation is statistically non existant.

good riddance, they digged their own grave.

False dilema. You can worry about those who are here and still remember those who are gone. We are humans, not machines, we have feelings and don't easily forget.

I don't know about other TV stations, but Fox News, as ever, seems to go on about 11 September every day, but then Fox News is the TV equivalent of The Sun.

While I wouldn't say this in the damn tribute thread (tact a bit lacking for that move), I have to say that I'm getting sick of 9/11 being brought up whenever Bush feels he needs justification for his War On Terror(TM).

Yes, it was terrible, but more people have died in my country from countless terrorist attacks over the years, so I can't respect this as an isolated and any more tragic event more than the Manchester city centre bombing.

Kojikun, you're a contemptible peice of shit. Once again you prove your a little monster with out a shred of human deceny or empathy for your fellow man. I wish I could say I'm suprised. But in the end I'm not, you're a contemptible little shit and this just reaffirms that.

What's so wrong with what kojikun said? Okay, he said it in the wrong thread, but he's only saying what many do, bad things happen, you still have to move on.

You don't just move on from the loss of family. It doesn't work that way. And thousands of people lost their family in a nation tradgedy and all he has to say is move on. It's callous and insensitive but after things like his cheering the reported torture of US soldiers in Iraq because they fucked up, I expect no better. And when it comes down to it, blanket statements of move on are just flat out callous and insensitive to the sheer tragedy of it.

I'm not defending him, I'll say that the comments on US soldiers was downright sick, but my point is that families here have lost loved ones from attacks like this. They may not have been in a large skyscraper with a plane impacting it, but the people of Omagh still got 100% the real deal as far as pure evil and horror goes.

Don't forget them, but don't stay in the past, that's the message that is often given, it was always told to me when I lost my uncle from cancer. Life isn't nice, but if we were like Fox News and blew this thing out of all proportion into some international emotional event, it'd detract from the fact that the families who lost loved ones are the people who should be remembering and they don't need the world to remind them.

Rest in peace is all I can say. The media is the prime cause for such apathy, unrelenting attacks on us about 9/11 have produced this current mixed atmosphere, same thing is going on on other forums I frequent.

I think too many people are confusing their own media overstimulation with a lack of "getting over it". :x

I agree that sentiment exactly. But callously announcing that people ought to move on is totally insensitive to the trauma of the experience. Losses like that are tough and people ought to show a little bit of understanding for that or at the very least keep their mouths shut. Especially in memorial thread.

I'm no fan of the tendency to wave the bloody shirt as it were either. I find it rather disgusting to see it trivialized like that. September 11th wasn't political slogan or campaign debate and it out to be treated as a solemn national tragedy.

Indeed, the media is doing all the desensitising needed here, they, or some, go on about tragedies too much.

Reminds me of The Ring, a quote in that is along the lines of "You reporters always have to dig up someone's misfortune and share it with the world."

For those who say "move on," just use some common sence.
First, from what I understand of psyc, you mourne a minimum of HALF the time you had with the dearly departed on earth.
So if you lost your wife of 10 years, you can expect 5 years of effect. (It tapers off.)
Do the fucking math. It is nowhere near time to "move on" for a great many! To suggenst otherwise is cruel, ignorant, or both.

Never mock a mourning ceramony, if you have the slightest shred of human decentcy. :x
How fucking DARE you.

Stay away from funerals asshole. Keep this shit to yourself, or over the net, as your physical safety may be compromised if the wrrong person hears you. Buda help you if you actualy say such a thing, on today of all days, to someone who lost someone that day.

Trust me, you don't want to be someone else's catharsis.

Very well, then we'll never celebrate our birthdays again, either. "Come on, you were born. Move the fuck on." I know a girl whose father died 5 or so years ago, and she still mourns on that day. Should she "move on"? Jesus Christ, you're an even more asinine little cunt fart than I previously thought.

You piss and moan about Fred Phelps showing up at gay funerals and picketing them, but you, in your infinite hypocrisy, do the exact same fucking thing by smugly telling those who wish to remember the tragic events of September 11th to get over it. You can talk about how you feel some other time, but it's the fucking anniversary, you asshole. Show a modicum of decency for once.

No, it won't. You typed out a sentence. While the idea conveyed is unpleasant, I doubt he'll learn anything from your violent over-emoting. Feel free to flame the little prick, but this emoting stuff is just spam.

Are you naturally a jerk or do you have to work at it?

Would you feel very good if your family got over your death in a few weeks?

I'm not saying that 9/11 should be forgotten, I'm not saying that people should even start to move on, I'm just saying that people shouldn't forget about other things, which are equally important (if not more so, as they are preventable).

Like I said, flame me, if you like. I'm just stating my opinion.
