I don't think this means anything, but I had a dream, about two weeks before isabel formed...

About a hurricane, which went west until it was DIRECTLY below florida and then went STRAIGHT UP the penninsula, finally curving out halfway through georgia, and heading out to sea, not that I'm basing my prediction of floridian devisatation on this, but looking at the jet stream, the low pressure system off the coast of GA/FLA, and the front dipping down from the NE in Florida (A nor'easter we call it...it's semi-rare, happening maybe two or three times a year, and brings BEAUTIFUL weather and cool temperatures) I think florida is in REAL danger.

Beware....you may get a popup...but this is the goodest site I could find :) (I know, goodest ain't a word....;-)

Wow, Chardok, you're clairvoyant!

The word "best" works best in place of "goodest"....

Now that I think about it, a hurricane seems pretty exciting.... I'd like to risk a violent, stormy death right about now... and still be living. Heh heh, my friends all think I'm insane for liking violent weather....

ref. clairvoyant: :P I SAID it probably doesn't MEAN anything, just thought it was interesting...

ref. goodest: I know, you goof! 8)

ref. violent weather: I know what you mean, I have always wanted to experience a hurricane/tornado and live to tell about it.

The storm surge alone is going to be ugly... it does look like it's still tracking right for the Florida/Georgia border.

funny thing. i live by the water on Narraganset bay, a sizeable inlet the the Atlantic. There is a massive hurricane barrier protecting the city of Providence with huge blast doors that close when a Hurricane comes to block the storm surge. There is a huge elevated wall that it connects to and goes up to like 60 ft above sea level. It is the coolest damn thing. The problem is i live just south of it, so by repelling the storm surge to protect downtown, it will flood my neighborhood. lol

Hmm, usually Tennessee sees the remains of most Hurricanes, this is gonna be a doosey for everyone within 500 miles of the coast, it sounds like.
Shit... that thing's bigger than West Virginia!
I've a feeling that if it hits the Carolinas, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio's getting some really wet weather as it pushes inland.

Based on the three main paths I've seen (south FL, middle FL, or southern GA), I'm screwed either way... I mean, as long as it doesn't go straight through central florida my house will probably still be there, but no matter where it goes, it's gonna be one BADDD storm...

When a hurricane inflicts a certain amount (i.e., a LOT!!) of damage, it's name gets retired from the NOAA's list of tropical storm names and is never given again.

Anyone think this will be the case here?

The lastesr computer models! 1 model predicts a direct hit on North Carolina and it's barrier islands. The remaining 3 predict a turn towards New York and New England.

She's still a Cat 5 hurricane, though by some estimates she'll drop to a Catagory 3 by the time she hits landfall.

hereis the projected path. Looks to me like the Carolinas may me in deep shit next week.
That all depends on how well Isabel holds its strength. It's weakened slightly and is now a category four storm (though not by much)

updated computer models: here

3 predict a strike on what looks like the Baltimore metro area/ southern Jersey. 1 predects a turn, which when carreid out looks like a hit on Eastern CT, RI and Southeastern Mass. I shudder to think at the damage this thing would do if it thrusts up Chesapeake, Naraganssett or Buzzards bay.

EDIT:
The NOAA has it's most likely path going stright up the Chesapeake.

Hey cool. The yellow track goes RIGHT UP DELAWARE BAY. That white square is practically right on top of my house.
