I am going to disagree with you col. random violence is far scarier. Killing for beliefs, only a certain portion of the populace is targeted, and if that portion is known, they can be warned, and protected. Random violence, people just lashing out at anyone that pisses them off, is much more frightening because you do not know who, or when the next murder will come in. And it is hard to stop if there is no pattern.
As for the Sweden thing, I am very sad about your loss, but maybe it could be a good as well. Sweden needs to lose it rosetinted glasses view of everything. Sometimes shit happens, and Sweden has as so far, avoided a great deal of this shit. But, like shep said, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Despite your nations age, in some respects, you're like a little kid growing up finding that fluffy the cat will die 5 decades before you do.

I didn't mean to be callous. I was just commenting on aspects of Swedish society that I have noticed from this board.
She was important, and, while I don't know her, and in fact, hadn't heard of her, I am sure she is mourned deeply by your whole nation.

I'm not too well versed on Sweden, but IIRC, their crime rates is one of the lowest in the world. I mean your 80 year old grandmother can walk at night without having to worry about being mugged. It just strikes me as a bit odd... My condolences to you and your country.

Don't remember if anybody here plays Utopia besides me and David, but a lot of KDs are changing their name to commemorate this (Lots of Swedish players. That's where I heard it first.) Kinda going off on a tangent here...

Indeed. Some more news regarding this incident: While the Swedish police still do not know the motive, and claimed (as of Thursday evening) that the killing did not appear to be planned (Who's going to believe that?

), it's interesting to note that apparently the killer wore several sets of clothing so that he could (and did) discard the outermost layer that had been bloodstained. And to pile some more coincidence on top of it all, it appears that the security cams inside the department store are non-recording surveillance types, so there is no visual record of the killer beyond eyewitness descriptions, unless the security cams of the other shops along the street turn something up. That's a bit much coincidence all told, methinks.

Yes I know. But there are nut-cases walking around out there who will just stab someone to get sexually aroused or whatever. That would be a random act of violence. Honestly I give my condoloences because Sweden from all I've seen and heard is a country where such shit doesn't happen because for the most part it prides itself being open and peaceful.

I mean sadly if I heard this on say Africa or somewhere in Asia I would presume some bizarre political coup or something.

And yes, I hope it doesn't change the outlook of the country's politicians.

She is a foreign minister or was, and she did a splendid job, so obviously she was doing the right thing, and doing the right can also mean pissing someone off.
But I do doubt Anna has made herself enemeis, it could very well have been an anti-EU prick who wanted to send a message to the world, or a stalker etc. We don't have a clue for the motive, yet.
