The Bear is Running in 2008

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

Yup that's right, I am seriously considering it, just as a poli sci experiment. Running a presidential campaign from a website, for the cheapest campaign possible.

Oh why 2008, well there's no elections when I turn 35 and am eligable to run for the first time.

Welcome back and this is a screwball idea. I fully support it.

What's your platform?

Mine is ale and whores. Of course, I won't be eligable to run for President until 2012.

I'm sorry man, but I want my vote to count :?

Dammit, I can't forget the suffering my ancestors went through in Poland, and their exile from Spain, and their hard work to come to this country, where they could have opportunity and a say in the political process...

This could actually be a really interesting experiment if you actually generate up a serious and intelligent platform and do some media whoring to political forum and websites

Well, if you can get the publicity, you might pull a campaign off. Any ideas for a running mate?

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Have you ever been here? I went to the voting station that election (since it was my last before registering to vote, my dad wanted me to learn how to vote correctly), and those guys really were morons. They had *no* clue how to use the damn things. (no, we don't have those curtains here, just three sided boxes you plug your stuff in.)

That, and I'm checking thrice before handing in my ballot...

Generall Plan is

1. Set up campaign Website, ask others to host linkies to website in question, and try to collect initial signature runs.

2. Somehow raise th3 $7500 I would need to get my logged and printed sigs registered in most states, although E-Logged pettitions are only valid in very, very few states. (CA being one of the few, and the only state I actually have enough friends in to get the 600 sigs+$150 to get on the ballot as anything but a write in canidate. :(

3. The plan was to create the Primary Platform of Campaign Finance Reform by only running off the internet, and taking no donations larger then $25 to $40 (Maximum personal contribution limit), via the internet.

4. Spam online media and tech savvy mags with a secondary platform of reduced pressure/censorship agaisnt electronic media/internet traffic.

5. Hope that I can get enough votes/donations that this little campain finance & Free speach project doesn't drive me into bankrupcy.

Note: in order to occomplish the following I have a date to have the website ready of Jan 9th 2006, when I will begin the actual campaigning as that is the earliest I can actually start the process (Legally)

Hmmm...I think I'm eligible to run around 2020.

And if this is leading to the Cabinet of the Monkey, I want Treasury. I doubt there are many other economics majors in the Brotherhood.
