A moment of silence and tribute

Post by Alyeska »

 At 8:48 exactly two years ago the world changed.

A tribute to the fallen.

(salutes)

the victim that stands out most in my mind, is christine Lee Hanson. at age 2 1/2, the youngest victim of the 9/11 attacks. it's not fair.....wish someone would tell me why this had to happen...I haven't tears enough to shed for this tragedy.

I've also changed my avatar and signature in reflection of today. The quote is from The End of Evangelion, if anyone wondered.

It seems like only yesterday that I woke up to hear the news and see the images. The memories will never fade. There is no danger of that.

I will forever remember that day, not because of the deaths, or the stuff the media plasters everywhere, but because that moment marked the first time our citizens were attacked by citizens of another country on our soil in... a long time...

(bleh, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's why I remember it)

On this day, I will always see the tower falling on the television. And I will always hear the absolute silence of my cafeteria.

I salute you, the brave men and women of the New York City Police and Fire department, and all the innocents lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

I will never forget. And God bless America.

That was one wacky day for those of us who were not directly affected, and a shitty day for those who were.

Two years later, whenever I see the attacks, people jumping out of buildings, the towers falling, I still feel the white-hot anger that I did that day. It hasn't gone away in the slightest.

There's a reason people like me aren't in a position of power. Its probably for the best...

And in California, too? Thats kinda interesting. I don't really know anyone on the West Coast who still really dwells on the matter like people in New York do.

I do not want to start a flame war, those in New York most certainly have a valid reason to spend more time on Sept. 11th than the rest of the country, so for Gods sakes take what I just said with a grain of salt.

No, I understand what you mean completely. When New York has really bad blizzards, the newscasters here practically smirk at the camera when the announce the 80 degree weather.

I'm probably in a small minority here in California. But I can't imagine someone having to make the decision to jump out of the WTC or be burned alive. Or firefighters in those buildings there to save lives being buried under tons of debris.

Then the fact that worthless fucking filth attacked my country over nothing more than their belief that America is just sooo evil. I'd better stop here, or I'll fill the rest of this post with more expletives than necessary.

I think you're probably right. I might dwell on it a bit more than other Californians because I have family there.

When I think of 9/11 I really am sorry, I'm also sorry for the Omagh Bomb, Canary Wharf, Brighton and other terrorist attrocities.
