I think it depends on the game. Games with team-based objectives like Day of Defeat require you to be as active as possible, always trying to capture points. Consequently, you die more in comparison to your team. On the server I played on a lot, I had most flag captures for a long while, as well as most suicides (thanks to my "suinade" tactic) and most deaths. I ranked 3rd or so for kills for a while, though I eventually pulled into 1st. My deaths still far outnumbered by kills, though.
