Two friends of mine, Chris and first-boyfriend-kinda Alan have this little problem between the two of them.
Situation is like this: Alan was team leader of a debate team. He didn't do what he was supposed to (form a rebuttal for a debate) and so caused the team to perform not as well as they could have. Chris is mad, as you would expect.
Now, my thoughts on this are such:
Firstly, Alan should have done what he was supposed to, thats a no brainer. But secondly, Chris should have made sure that his team had the required rebuttal, either by making sure Alan did the rebuttal, or by making one himself. I want them to stop being idiots and get along, since both are my friends.
I don't think Chris can blame Alan entirely for getting a low grade, when it was his [Chris's] responsibility to make sure he got the best grade he could, which includes making sure all the required work is completed, regardless of who is supposed to do it. I think it's childish scapegoating.
Opinions?

Alan is entirely responsible. He is the leader, and leaders should take responsibility for their actions. He failed the team, and he failed Chris.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I too agree that Alan is to blame.

I don't deny that alan is a fuck for doing this, but I still think Chris is also responsible. Alan didn't volunteer for role as team leader, Chris and the other team members made him team leader. And Chris is still responsible for himself and his grade, so regardless of how irresponsible Alan was being, Chris also had to be irresponsible by not making sure he was going the get the grade he wanted. If he's going to bitch at Alan, I think he should also bitch at himself for not making sure he got the grade he wanted.

Chris is responsible for his own work, not everyone elses. That's Alan's job. And this is another reason why I don't like to work in groups.
