Darkstar's Rings

Is it possible that the rings that darkstar claims to see and says that "things only get affected when the rings touch them" are shockwaves from an explolsion?
If a nuclear bomb is dropped on somewhere the place won't be affected to the shockwave or explosion reaches it and the wave expands out in a ring.

I assume that when the SL hits Alderaan, it creates a massive explosion on the surface as well as continuing down to the core to complete the destruction of the planet. This surface explosion would easily be well above the requirements for a blast of nuclear weapon proportions and since nuclear weapons have a shockwave i conclude that this explosion of many time the magnitude would have a much larger one. One that can traverse the planet at incredible speeds and destroy many places on the surface before the complete destruction of the planet. This could be the ring he talks about, as when I look at the pics that he has "highlighted the ring on" i can't see anything apart from the edge of what looks to me like an explosion.

Don't shockwaves always propogate at the speed of sound, though? I thought that he said his non-existent "band of brightness" was moving faster than that.

I thought that shockwave speed was proportional to the magnitude of the explosion, but i could easily be wrong. Can someone clear this up?

I was absolutely dumbstrucked when I finally found out what DarkStar was identifying as "bands."

Now I am fairly convinced that he might be insane.

And I think anybody who agrees with him on the entire Super Laser argument is automatically to be labeled an idiot.

You know that I still haven't even gotten ONE PM telling me that DarkStar even produced reasonable doubt that I was right on any of the three threads that I made that offer on? The guy is a complete idiot, and NO one agrees with him about anything.

Wait, wait... are we talking about the "Rings" or the "Bands" in this thread? Because it's the "bands" that are just a Darkstar hallucination... the Rings are just an odd curiosity.

We were originally talking about the "bands of brightness." The ones that don't exist.

I think someone on the Fanfic forum was nice enough to salvage my parody of LotR on that part of the site. Otherwise you can read it in the Hall of Shame.
