I want cat eyes so I can see in the dark better, but I don't want them to look like cat eyes. I'd want them as human shaped as possible but with the cool evil glow that cat eyes have.
And I want my GF to have elf ears, I photoshopped elf ears on one of her pictures once and I wet myself looking at it. Mmmm...elf ears....ah crap my underwear!
aerius: I'll vote for you if you sleep with me. Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.
Hmmmmm...... purely genetic changes post-development probably wouldn't do too much in the terms of visible outer changes. ((For a mental experiment, imagine if they inserted two pieces of cat tissue in your head, and they're not rejected. You wouldn't grow cat ears.) Although I suppose carefully switching on the right parts of the body using chemicals might turn things different. However, surgery would probably be a better choice.) So, I'd probably be choosing some 'hidden boosts' - making my body produce all the vitamins it needs (such as the the 'simple' repair needed for Vitamin C production), slight changes in blood and immune system, and possible overall changes that might affect the way the body ages, hopefully slowing them down or stopping it.
If I answer in the way everybody else seems to be doing it, it's also interesting. I can't simply give myself the strength of an elephant or the grace of a cat simply by changing my genes - in order to be strong as an elephant, you'd have to change your skeletal and musclar structure to be like one. Likewise, putting on bird wings wouldn't make me fly. Not that I'll reject any enhancement - for instance, a slight restructuring of the eye I can take. (I note that, for human vision our design works well. There are tradeoffs for each type of eye, so I would have to choose carefully to minimize this.)
Massive upgrade to my senses, probly patterned after a Bloodhound nose (minus the jowls, duh; just gimme the actual sensors and wiring) and a Shepherd's ears (same thing except make my ears a bit pointed and slightly steerable).
Errr...I dunno. I can't think of anything I would really want. Wings would be a pest to take care of and keep out of the way...not to mention they'd be useless unless I could fly...but the sacrifices I'd have to make to do that...not worth it.
Wouldn't mind dating a girl with cat ears, cat tail...stuff like that.

--Initial thought: I really would like a nice fur coat (I hate laundry) and better senses (human senses really are poor). A cat wouldn't be a bad choice, nice long fur coat, nice ears and good hearing, good sight, good sense of smell, retractable claws, etc.
-Second thought: I should really look into this more. It would be nice to breath in water or to fly too. It would take some time to figure out which animal has the features that best compliment a human.
I'd get falcon DNA, take to to razor sharp claws and bone piercing power, and the ability to fly, but generally looking like the guy from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

It should be noted that my BF has developed an unhealthy elf fetish ever since he saw LOTR 2 years ago.

Bastard! I was going to say that.
But which kind of shark's teeth? Tiger Shark or Nurse Shark would look gross, but Great White teeth would rule, if scaled-down a touch.
Biting your tongue would take on a new edge of terror, mind, and you'd have to brush your teeth with a wire brush, but hey.

You know, if I was going to choose powers that mysteriously scale up to my body and comprehension without any of the associated drawbacks that exist or would exist at that scale (Such as bird wings giving flight, or spiderman-spider strength), I'd simply cheat and choose the capabilities of a bunch of different single-celled organisms. Here's what I'd get...
The ability to survive near-boiling temputures (hot springs, deep sea vent bacteria), extreme cold (bacteria that actually still metabolize even buried under hundreds of meters of Antartic ice), extreme pressure (see deep water bacteria), extreme radiation, various poisons, being buried miles underground, etc etc.
The ability to metabolize things that others cannot. Sulpher, oil, as well as photosynthesis. (Deep Sea Vent Bacteria, photosynetic organisms.)
The ability to make a copy of myself every 20 minutes, thus giving me the ability to make an army of myself in very little time. (Many times of bacteria.)
The ability to at the very least double my mass, probably more. (If you're going to split in two, it's a given.)
The ability to rapidly evolve myselves. (Simple consequence of rapid reproduction + mutation.)
The ability to be nearly immortal. (See above.)
The ability to secrete a hard armor of calcium and other minerals around myself, with plates and spikes. (I'm thinking of diatoms and stuff here.)
The ability to make my own structures. (See above, but shed some of it and move around at the same time.)
The ability to make an extremely tough coat around myself and easily survive for thousands of years, indefinately in the right spots. (We can revive bacteria that have been sealed in ancient coffins because they turn into spores.)
The ability to fly. (Bacteria, being small would naturally drift around in the air unless anchored to something. Combine that would controllable surfaces...)
The ability to change shapes. (Ameoba)
The ability to make claws and other body features. (Combine shape-shifting with selective mineral secretion.)
The ability to have multiple life-stages. (Malaria, some types of dinoflagette(sp?) - notably a type that causes red tide can have up to 14 vastly different life stages.)
The ability to engulf things to eat them. (Ameoba, etc)
Extreme Super-Strength compared to my weight. (Spiders, insects get theirs by a simple application of mass going up by volume vs strength going by cross section. Thus, Spiderman getting around 50x despite being still human-size... I'll probably get insane gains by choosing the right single-celled creature.)
The abililty to exchange genetic material while still living. (Bacteria can exchange ?plasmids? that are circular-shaped pieces of DNA between them.)
The ability to make clouds. (There's evidence that some bacteria influence cloud formation, allowing them to spread further.)
The ability of super-stealth. (Hey, you try finding a bacterium when it doesn't want to be found.)
The ability to get go through most types of walls, doors, pipes, etc etc. (Just a function of their size, again.)
The ability to be on just about everyone at once, giving me ultimate spying abilities. (Bacteria are nearly impossible to wipe out.)
The ability to be on every pretty girl on the world at once. (Bacteria, being near-impossible to get rid of, infest just about everyone in the world. Granted, there would be more on fat ugly slobs, but since this is a power of mine, I'll get to control who I'll be on.)
The ability to be involved in every sex act at once. (See above.)
The ability to survive in others, and be parasites or symbiotic. (Malaria would survive in people, for symbiosis there are bacteria in the gut that help parts of digestion.)
The ability to make people I don't like sick. (This should be obvious.)
The ability to make others well. (I could fight other micro-organisms, or manufacture antibiotics.)
The ability to make a whole bunch of other chemicals, for good or ill. (Ex, Yeast.... I could make my own alchohalic beverages!)
Hmmm... well, there's probably more but I think I made my point, whatever the hell it was.

That's easilly possible with contact lenses that are currently in development.

Jowls are part of the package for a Bloodhound. After all, those skin folds and stuff act as scent collectors for the dog.
