I think this is a classic, but he's got a point, wheel clamping by private companies in some cities is getting out of hand, coppers aren't all that bad but when I read a damn Royal Mail van was clamped during the guy's rounds I tend to get suspicious.Montcalm wrote:"Nanananana loser nanananana loser loser loser...loser"

Hmm, while I'll admit that it's not as cool as Watchmen, the fact that there are a few costumed vigilantes running around is somewhat interesting... ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Oh lord, no, that'd be pointless if they tried to do a comic on her pre-carcrash.

I don't know about NYC (there's far too much traffic there and booting people would make it worse) but I got booted once at Hofstra. The Duchess of Zeon wrote:So they do it in NYC, too? *reminds self why she only takes the train there. So um....unless the people who want the clampers off report it.....they will never arrest anyone eh?...Sounds very nice....then again the police department must be losing money over this.~JasonA Kent Police spokeswoman said no complaint about wheel clamps being cut off had been made by either a clamping firm or a member of the public.
A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said they could not investigate unless a crime was reported.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Removing clamps is nothing new. You are correct, it's a crime if you damage the clamp or take it away. In this case I guess the police won't investigate unless someone comes forward with a sawed-up clamp as evidence. If you remove a clamp without damage (which you sometimes can depending on type) and leave it behind, then the legal situation is less clear. However, this only applies to clamps belonging to private clamping companies. There are clamps applied by the police and various government bodies (eg the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority). It's an offence to mess with these in any way. The clamp applied by the police is always a huge item that AFAIK cannot be removed without damaging it anway.neoolong wrote: On the one hand it hasn't been reported by a crime, but if you're sawing them off, aren't you damaging someone else's property?
This guy must be restricting himself to the privately applied clamps, because I'm quite sure the boys in blue would take a radically different view if it was their own precious clamps he was mutilating.
I notice that this superhero also says he'll have a go at speed cameras. This will land him in trouble if he attacks one with his Stihlsaw. He's also playing with fire regarding the private clamps - most of the private clamping firms I've encountered are run by pretty hard cases (eg the same guys run security on club doors by night). I'm familiar with one local case where a clamping team caught one of their victims in the act of removing a clamp (destructively) and a very unpleasant scene ensued.
It's good to see he's wearing the correct safety gear for using a grinder

Right-o.. Since I've been in Albuquerque for nearly 4 years now, I've seen exactly one of those clamping thingies, and several tow trucks. They're around all the time. The Duchess of Zeon wrote:So they do it in NYC, too? *reminds self why she only takes the train there.
