That's Splinter of the Mind's Eye, not Crystal Star.
Oh...yeah  . Sure sign I've read too many EU books, when I can't keep them straight any more. I remember SotME was odd in its portrayal of things also, but due to its release. Crystal Star I remember reading, but I don't remember anything about it.

Dalton: I've not had a chance to read them yet, but if you can find the Lando Calrissian Trilogy, I've heard those are good also.

I haven't read those since the 4th grade, so my memory might be a little fuzzy, but I remember not liking them.

Master of Ossus wrote: While I agree that CS missed the majority of the movie characters, it at least made SOME effort at maintaining continuity with the films. AS made no attempt at doing so. That was the most blatant violation of character I've ever seen, posted above. And it was just an EXAMPLE. The rest of the book continues to COMPLETELY miss both Anakin and Obi-Wan, the only significant characters from the movies that played any significant role in the novel, and the characters it introduced were annoying and UTTERLY uninteresting. The combination destroyed the novel completely.
Better annoying and uninteresting, than something that warps the brain totally. Luke Skywalker, Han, even the stalwart C3PO were touched to become totally different. C3PO was totally out of character, and Han Solo appeared to be some flapping accountant stuck in an adventure he didn't want.
How is this worse than things like the Jedi's acrobatic abilities owing almost completely to their physical prowess, instead of the Force (as depicted in AS, when Kenobi is repeatedly amazed at Luminara's PHYSICAL conditioning when she does things that are remotely athletic)? That violates common sense (how can so many Jedi be that athletic?), the films (Yoda and Dooku are NOT that athletic), and the spirit of the novels. How is this worse than claiming that anyone can use the Force if they try hard enough (which is contradicted at every turn by the films)? Yes, CS's philosophy (and I use that term lightly) blatantly contradicts the films, but so does AS's "you can do ANYTHING" mentality.
Well, in ANH, Obiwan Kenobi does offer to train Han Solo in the ways of the Force. The only... contradiction is that the guy who did it, was able to express telekinetic powers, as opposed to other "force trained non-sensitives" like Isolder, who only had their instincts and views of life changed. The EU is already full of crap about Force sensitives not under the control of the Jedi.(Read Nightsisters)
Hell, remember NJO has an entire living planet with a populace with a contary view of the Force.

Its still isn't as warped as the Force Healing and manifestation of the anti force in Crystal Star. That, was pure treknobabble. And it hurt. On top of all the bullshit and bad plot and lousy research, she threw in treknobabble.

That's probably because nothing happened in AS that made it worthy of debate. There was NO technical information mentioned. There was NO attempt to "flesh out" the politics and such of the Republic. There was NO attempt to establish jurisdiction for the various branches of their government, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. Nothing happened in AS, which was one of its greatest failings. Things happened in CS. Sure, they sucked. But reading about things that are stupid is better than reading stupid writing in which nothing happens.

"
So, its a typical Eu story, where shit happens and you throw in totally unrelated characters, make up new one dimensional characters and have lousy english and bad grammar and make absolutely no attempt to connect it with the rest of the galaxy. We had that in The New Rebellion. it hurts. Badly. But when you have that, and throw in technobabble and queasy science talk that makes absolutely no sense, it hurts more.
