It is very annoying. This thing happens at least once or twice every so years.... Luckily, most of the time I don't address people with their names so it's pretty usual.~Jason
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Yeah. It's the worst when they know you from freakin' elementary school or middle school, and you don't recognize them at all, but they assume that you remember them and are going a mile a minute while you stare blankly at them trying to figure out who this person is.

All the time.

And back when Friends had just started, my dad was stopped everytime he went out, because apparently he looked like Ross...

It happens to me quite often. Of course, I have a terrible memory. Right now, I might be able to tell you the names of four students I graduated with ten years ago.

It has happened both ways for me. At my high school reuninon some girl kept talking to me. I could'nt remember her, let alone her name. I felt bad cause I was doing better at remembering names or faces than most of the others. When I got home I finally remembered who she was and what class we had together.

Ive also, spoken to former co-workers I remember very well who didnt recognize me.

Most of the time. Specially when I meet people I went to elementary school with. They keep talking and talking and I have no clue who they are... It's really embarrasing...

Shouldn't be embarrassing. They should have the decency to say "Hi it's so so ..remember me?". I mean comon it would be fucking years since the last meet, that's the least they can do. If the person is unwilling to reveal their name again then he got no business talking to me like I know him.~Jason

I was at an art function, and some people from my old high school were there and they recognized me or at least knew I was coming to the event. I totally didn't recognize them, but when I did I knew they were the people who looked down at me and teased me in high school (okay, so I was a total dweeb and probably deserved it), but then they were trying to kiss up since I was in the upper-echelons of influence for that event. I just blew them off, good stuff.

I've become very accustomed to this.

To me the opposite happens more often. I've changed a lot since my early teens, and many old colleagues don't recognize me when I adress them. Some times I feel revenged. There was this gal I liked when I was thirteen. Of course, she was quite cruel to the nerd. Then some time ago I met her in a party. I had a masters in eng. and a gorgeous girlfriend, she had dropped college and had become extremelly fat. It took me a while to convince her it was me..

Repeatedly. It takes me a least two or three meetings with a person for their face or name to actually settle into my memory, so I'm always running into people who know me but who I don't know, causing no end of embarassment.

Never happened to me. Not even being a household name in my own house has it's perks, after all.
