What came to my mind forst was what DW said in another thread about judges operating on the principle of "It could be me there". Obviously that asshole is unfit to serve as a judge, and should be removed. That ruling is an insult to all victims of sexual harassment. I certainly like Solauren's second proposal to remedy that asshole's attitude.
In any case, I'd be surprised if this case is closed yet. The prosecutor (who was also obviously applying the "It could be me there" principle) might not appeal, but I'm rather certain the victims will, and the appeals court could well rule in their favor, in which case both judge and prosecutor would be in deep shit. No guarantee, though, there have been a couple of appeals court decisions here in Finland that should see the judges publicly lynched (I mean, WTF, actually losing your job and having a negative impact of being sentenced for rape is a mitigating factor, so you should be treated more leniently?!
), but there was one case that was finished just last year where a lower court ruled that as there was no evidence which one of three people actually committed a murder all of them were present at (and acting in concert), there could be no conviction. The prosecutor agreed, and the victim's mother took it to the appeals court where she lost again, and then to the Supreme court which took the case, slapped life sentences on all three fuckers and soundly lashed the prosecutor and the lower courts to boot.
So this probably isn't finished yet, as Norway has (I think) similar procedural rules that allow victims to appeal even if the prosecutor couldn't care less.
