I sometimes dream about an evil face. The actual face varies, once it was in the aurora borealis, once it was a doll, once it was a little toddler with the most creepy, malicious, knowing, evil little grin you could imagine. Not like in Hollywood, but really and truly evil like I've never seen in real life. But somehow I know that the mind behind the face is always the same. I know that if the face looks at me, I am finished, so I struggle to prevent the face from turning towards me. I am aware that I am dreaming, you see, so I can exert my will in the dream. Lots of my dreams have "do-overs," where I rather consciously say, "no, that's not how it should go, try it like this," or I find the dream boring and so say, "scrap this, let's do something else." However, in the face dreams, I cannot gain control. I cannot keep the face from turning, I cannot change the dream, I cannot make myself wake up no matter how hard I try. All I can do is stand there struggling against the face as it gradually and inexorably turns towards me and fixes me with it's eyes, and I am filled with an indescribable terror, such as I have never felt in real life. It then laughs and thinks to me that I am under it's control and cannot escape, not in words, mind you, it just communicates just the idea. Then it lets me wake up.

Then there was the dream where I was being chased by a headless midget captain Picard, and the dream where the ladybug refrigerator magnates that I had when I was three came to life and ate me in the backseat of the car while my father was sitting dead in the front seat while his mother was running down the road waving big shears and cackling because she had finally cut off his beard.

I went to sleep in my living room of my apartment because my room was just too freakin' hot. I slept on a pad I laid out. Soon I woke up but I COULD NOT MOVE. Then I realized I was not ON the freakin' pad. I was levitating.

To this day I could not tell if it was a dream or not because the details and sensations were too real! A little bit blurry, like the vision you get when you try to make you the way to the bathroom when you just woke up. But still.. freaky.

Both of these sound like sleep paralysis, a very common and perfectly harmless occurrence. I have experienced it many times myself, usually after a face dream. ArmorPierce, that is exactly what you're describing. What happens is part of your brain wakes up, and part doesn't. You have a normal mechanism that paralyzes you when you dream to keep you from hurting yourself. Sometimes, you halfway wake up but the mechanism is still active. You feel completely awake, sometimes have a sensation of floating, often have a strong sense of presence, and frequently are overcome with terror for no explicable reason, unless you decide you are terrified by the presence or the paralysis itself. Most people go back to sleep, often to create dreams to explain the phenomenon. I always snap fully awake and mobile after a few minutes. It can be freaky, especially if preceded by a nightmare, but it is perfectly normal. Some psychologists believe such experiences might be a source for tales of witches or demons attacking people at night (one symptom of possession is levitation), as well as modern stories of aliens stealing people out of their bedrooms.

I very rarely have dreams that I remember, and of those only a few are wierd. Most of them, rather, are quite pleasant.

I had a dream a week or two ago where I was in my back yard, and there in the sky was Jupiter, so close it appeared as large as the moon.

Later in the dream I had sex with InnerBrat.

And that's the wierdest dream you've ever had? Was it because I was a giant barbie doll?

I've had a copuple of sleep paralysis incidents, with one scary exception there's someone in the bed with me and I can't turn round to confront him. Once he even spoke to me. No prizes for guessing who it was...

And then once I had to defend Jesus (mid crucifiction) in my attic against flying Klingons.

No, just the most recent.

No.

The weirdest I can remember occured about 5 years ago or so. I'm in my front yard, it's night, there are green puffy clouds all over the sky, and straight up the clouds form the Eye of Ra. Around this time I get a feeling that there is 'something' to the east. I go to my room, put on some boots, grab a sword, then go back out and head east.

That feeling stayed with me for a couple of months afterwards, though it didn't point in any one direction. I miss it now.

I used to get those too: in mine, I'd see my room exactly as if I was lying in my bed awake, except that I'd see a shadowy form moving towards me. It would be inky black (like someone had cut a hole out of the room and there was nothing there, with a vague resemblance to a figure in a cloak with the hood drawn up. The black figure radiated this chill and sense of menace, and I somehow instinctively knew it was there to harm me. One time it touched my shoulder: I can remember the sensation of cold very clearly. There was only one time it was different: same black shape, except in the form of a cat which jumped on my stomach, waking me up. Either way it went I'd wake up in a cold sweat, my heart pounding while I looked around to make sure I was actually awake this time.

Mine seemed to be linked to stress and lack of sleep: when I quit smoking and got a less stressful job, I stopped having them. They haven't recurred in over a year now.

The last vivid dream I has was with a bunch of my friends (both online and off) passing around some sort of stone that woked almost like a mood ring, but not really, changing color with each new person it went to. At the end, I don't know who it went to, though I have an idea, and it turned black, and left me with a very eery, lingering feeling of death and tragedy.

That's a really cool dream. All I dreamed last night was that I was back in school, and the final exam was that I had to prove that a Tribble from Star Trek would defeat a squadron of TIE fighters... or something like that.

I've had a lot of weird dreams lately - in one of them, I visited Kamino and talked to Lama Su (yes, that Lama Su). In another I didn't talk to any Kaminoans but I did catch one of my attractive female acquaintances during sex with one of her friends... and that's just the tip of the iceberg!! If there's one dream I wish I could have stayed in, it must have been the one wherein I investigated an illegal automobile road race... if only for that tricked-out Toyota MR2 which participated.

Unfortunately, my real life isn't that interesting...

Last night actually I had YET NOTHER dream involving myself being in the Vietnam War. This was the longest dream I've ever had according to my moemory...Took like 5 hours, no shit.

I was like a Private Pyle from FMJ and was running around trying to make Sgt. Hartman happy, but I actually succeed. Happened before. Then I was Private Joker and was with Cowboy in 'Nam aka my house/backyard/neighborhood made into a war-torn jungle. Spent hours of the dream in there. The "jungle" was also my back yard. Lol. Then I was like a viewer watching a movie all around me. Watching the two main characters devolop and go into combat situations in the mean streets of my jungle-street. And when I looked outside, I didn't see any Viet Cong, but I felt their eyes, dozens of pairs of eyes, piercing me.

And yes, I watch Full Metal Jacket just about everyday.

Read the book it was based on here: www.short-timers.com also has a sequeal where Joker becomes a Viet Cong! Made me feel like a war vet after reading it.
...This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old...ultraviolence.
