How about the two hours it takes me to get to Oakland from the South Bay Area? Were talking about 30 miles here tops. Fuck California and all the damn people who swarm here like locusts.

15mph is better than the 1mph I averaged.

I've done the 401 drive many many times, driving to Waterloo from New Brunswick and back (family lives in NB, I went to university in Waterloo), and the 401 wasn't too bad normally when we went throuhg it.. We'd usually start hitting heavier traffic within a couple hundred klicks to the east, slow donw to 50kph, sometimes as slow as 30kph at the worst, and then be clear at the other side eventually.

As for where I am now, in Ottawa, I'm lucky that I go against traffic when I go to work. Southbound down Riverside I rarely hit much more than medium volume at worst

Now the worst traffic I think I ever experienced was when we were trying to get through San Fransisco. It was teh weekend, and the first time my parents had been in SF (and my second time throuhg it), and I , as Navigator, guiided them to the Bay bridge. I figured it wouldn't be too bad. Too bad I didn't know there was a football or baseball game on about the time we hit SF. 3-4 hours to get across and onto the 101 to conttinue down to Monterey. *winces*

BTW, I don't know what the stats are now, but I heard years ago that the Toronto area of the 401 was the second busiest highway in North America, second only to the highway going by LAX.

Lets see, the longest it has taken me to get from point a (one end of Hobart) to point b (the other end) is 30 minutes.

I was once in a car that was driving down a highway in England. I think it was a highway, because that's what everyone called it after I mistook it for a quiet rural road.

Also, I think Hawai has an interstate highway. How is that possible?
